UFO / Uli Jon Roth

The Rock'n'Roll World has got him back again. The musketeer of the six strings sword, with a featherboa and the glove. And yes, he took both, ready for the fight  against the speed of time within the business,  the forgetfullness of fans from yesterday and the once again acceptance on the red carpet of those guitar heroes. Uli Jon Roth is, what you call an string artist. Discovered in the early Seventees with the Scorpions, very soon he went his own way to make his drems become true. Though he never could compete  with the success of the Scorpions, Uli got his place in the ligue of super-guitarists. His music has always been as excentric as his look. Anyway, Uli Jon Roth never forgot how to play over the years. He's good,-  we must give him that, despite of his long stage absence. He puts himself into multiple trance mutations as the knight of astral tune structure. Anyway, the mastro knows how to play, and it is offious , that there are slight similarities to Ritchie Blackmore, at least what's up to the look. - At least the dedication to Jimi Hendrix is very much honoured by the audiance. Okay, let's hope, that the return of the lost son is not just a short stint. Only a constant battle with his coat, his feather and his sword will help him. Only talent is not enough, - nowadays...

UFO - holy Space philosophy!!! - The legend once again has shoot off from the docks, nicely refreshed and ready for upcoming excursions. On top of it - Captn Moog, who still leads his starship through the heaven of Rock'n'Roll including his first officer Pete Way and his second one Paul Raymond. - However, an oldieband with 3 original members, - where else do you still  find that? Usually you just find maybe one fossile left within all these oldie- bandreunions of forgotten Rock juwenils on the planet. Not with UFO. The trio is still holding on tight the flagship, although longtime bonus Michael Schenker hat quit for 25th time or so, two years ago. But they wanna prove, that it is also working without guitar god. The band got themselves a real talent named Vinnie Moore, who is too young to hold a status of a legend, but is almost as brilliant as Schenker, what's up to playing his instrument. On drums we haven't got one either, but at least the son of a legend with the name Jason Bonham. however, Daddy John - Bonzo (once with Led Zeppelin) would be proud about him today, and certainly gives his blessing from above. -

son of a legend passing on the traditions....

The tooth of time has knocked a little on the warp-speed as well as on the condition of Philly - Boy - Moog, who should be celebrating soon his sixth decade of living. Nevertheless his heart is still beating for the box. I don't know, if this is more because of nostalic reasons or because of earning his daily salary. The reason for the lack of condition  ain't not so much the performance, but more of the visual aspects of Phil Moog, who should get himself some glasses soon or contactlenses, so he doesn't have to bent down so offiously to read the lyrics from the well hidden script behind the monitor box. He can't always hide these efforts for our all enjoyments.
For that, Mr. Spock-Way is jumping around on stage like a gone wild galactic space-frog though the magnetic aura of the stage atmosphere, to drive the audiance away from Phils shortsighted weekness. Pete is fit like a sportshoe And our little mars alien proves, that despite of all his sins of the past, he can cope easely with the youth. Great! I always knew it, - bassist have this special little something. Paul Raymond is still standing in the back like always. He has always been better in showing off trendsettings then his musical presence. But at least he's been with the band for half of an eternity. And this a great excuse. - What Paul is missing in physical movement, Pete fills in for that, straight through the control center. Scotty is taking care that the turbo drive ain't stopping. Even some songs are a bit difficult to get used to it, - last but not least hits like "Doctor Doctor", "Only You Can Rock Me" und "Lights Out" are beaming us up in the stratusphere of the structure of rockmusic. The UFO has landed once again, a little antique nowadays, but still able to fly off.
We are writing the year 2004. These are the adventures of startrek UFO, which is hopefully sailing through space on a constant journey with four members,  - hopefully for a few more years. Whether it is for sentimental memories or to win new fans. Cheers to nostalgy, viagra and the warp-speed.

<<<<  let's have a look what the next song is!!!

Zed Yago

Oh my god! I have no clue, how long this german heavy rock band is going so far. But who cares. Most people don't even know about this group at all. No, they haven't changed really over the years. Biggest difference to the Glory Eightees is the female singer, who's name was Jutta Weinold once, but now it's a girl named Yvonne Durrand. Actually since 1997. But I guess, I don't tell Metal Fans any news by that. However, Zed Yago do the same thing, they did 20 years ago, - solid and hardrockin' Rock. And they are loud, very loud indeed. But maybe this fact does belong to the strategy of most acts playing the Garage Club, which is infamous for it's poor sound conditions, - as I mentioned before in some reviews, - to hide this disadvantage. It's working, at least partly. There are only very few metal fans, some remembering past days, some to explore new fields. However, Zed Yago is a new old band, - what's up to the music as well as it's members. Yvonne is clever, she is selfconfident and is showing a lot of authority. This is probably due to a lot experience as well as her not too young age. Nevertheless she kept herself in shape, no doubt about that. And let's be honest... what's age in Rock'n'Roll really worth it?!! Nothing, or better non existend to describe it straight. No sign about wick condition or anything like that. This is already shown in the impressing length of the set. Alright, the index of Zed Yago is very long, and there is a new piece, they wanna promote of course. The only little weak point is the fact, that after two hours you get the impression, somehow the music sounds pretty much the same, and that you heard one or the other song a second time tonight. All together, - it is a solid well done first show of the German Tour here in Munich, apart from the rather poor appearance of fans this evening. - But we are used to this here in Munich, ain't we?!!!....
