Status Quo

Rock'n'Roll all over the world... and this since 10, 20, 30 and 40 years, - always the same three cords. Yes, the strategy went off, and not only just since yesterday. Spiced up with sexy hip swing Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt and co. prove, that they easely can cope, evern by beeing the middle of their fiftees. Ordinary sing and dance along rock'n'roll, performed with this loveable next door neighbour smile, so that every Rock- and Popfan and granddad must like 'em. The venue, no wonder, is packed like usual. Granny meets father in law and teeniegirl with heavy mama. Here, everybody is equal with the same attitude. They rock, that the walls are dancing rumba and the ceiling gets the feeling of the very last day. Whether it's the first, the second or the third song. Never mind, sounds the same anyway. And a change of the setlist from day to day on tour wouldn't really make sense and difference. Status Quo ain't no sophisticated game of chess and no complicated twist of a memorandom. This here is only straight ahead rock'n'roll through the wall. We feel well, we party and get mad. That's the most important thing. And if we still celebrate the quo'she philosophy in after another 20 years despite of rheumatism, then  all I have to say is - they did it right they do it right and they allway will do it right...

Bill Wyman & The Rhythm Kings

Hipp hipp hurrah... here we got the definitive prove, that the Elderly of us can do i better, at least what's up to Bill Wyman's Pensioner... eh... Rhythm Kings. Yes, this is old fashion rock'n Boogie Woogie like we luv it....at least from time to time to swagger in nostalgy of the old times. There's nothing much left from the Rock'n'Roll image from the past, evn there's still this certain untouchable aura around Bill Wyman. And he does everything to hold up this illusion. But not really because he thinks himself as a eternal half god of Rock, but more or less, because he's always been the man in the background as we all remember. More than 10 years ago, the original Stones bassist decided to follwow his own path only doing what he really wants to do. First thing getting married again (don't ask me how often he did it before) and to become a father of 3 daughters again, Second - to practice only the music he's personal devoted to and third -just living, still running his london restaurant Sticky Fingers and live and let die.... whatsoever... And all that by beeing almost 70 years of age.

On stage Wyman is still the statue in the back  like 10, 20, 30 or even 40 years ago, and he leaves it up to the rest of the band to do the physical performing. And he certainly gets the helping hands from none other than for instance Andy Fairweather-Low, also almost at a good penisoners age. But the man's got a good name in the biz and knows how to put himself in the right light and position. The same for Terry Taylor, who's well known at least in the british music scene. And of course our best man - Albert Lee. To describe this man ain't necessary. Albert is known as beeing on of the very best country/Blues guitarists ever. He is high class. And he plays those difficult riffs with a liteness, so you get the impression, he's only doing some three or so cords always repeating again and again. Beverly Skeetes, - what a voice! Black and very souly. She could easely be ill's granddaughter together with keyoardist junior Michael Sanchez. Both are taking care of the witty and smashing espirit of the performance. Sentimental journeys are big here and tonight, and Sanchez who's outfit he's lent probably from his daddy or granddad keeps us dancing to the rhythm. Elvis would sing halleluja, if he could see and hear this. All songmaterial is lent from the 50s and 60s mainly including a tribute to the just gonne Ray Charles in form of "Hit The Road Jack". And when Albert tunes in "the Wild One" I can't avoid a grin. Then personally he's everything else than this... I know him well enough. Even the mastro himself sings a tune, even it doesn't really compete with Enrico Caruso's vocal potentials. But as we all know - a Rolling Stone just burbs, and the fans are screaming And that's what these aprox. 250 sould do here and tonight.

The Rhythm Kings have convinced us, no question about that, and have left the question about their real age in the air. And they proved that you don't need Tai Ginseng and Garlic pills inclusively Viag.... okay, I don't know about the last one...
However, once again we know that Rock'n'Roll never gets outta fashion, no matter how old or young we are. And we all do it  - Just For a Thrill....
