Europe

Yeah, the prove is here right now and up on stage - The Final Countdown, which had called it a day a few years ago. No, Europe have never really split. They had something what we call a creative rest. (or should we say - a forced in to something rest)  because it was said, they guys had enough of their glammer, curly hair image. But times have changed, and also the music, the image and the attitude. So what is the reason for the change of mind? They remembered their roots, and the pleasure of playing together again, came back - is the argument. And so a new Cd is recorded quickly for the new start. A Start From the Dark - How true! Except the nostalgy of "The Final Countdown", "Carrie" or "Rock The Night". The band didn't have many more hits anyway. And to get it 100% straight, - the only profit Europe ever had, was the one and only hymn. Apart from that, time has left it's toll on Europe. The spandex pants, the perm and the make-up has disappeared. Joey Tempest, John Norum and Co. demonstrate serious attitude, and concentrate on the musicianship more than ever as well as their cool stage appearance. They can manage indeed, thanx to many well known tunes. And of course the new album is included, although only on the surface or should I say in the shadow of the Countdown. And the sound circumstances are crystal clear. Wouw... I haven't got many chances to state this in reviews nowadays. The audiance is grateful for a perfect show without any over dues but with lots of memories about the past. The swedes have developed, have grown up, offering us a decent performance with not many showeffects only a little play of the lights. But let's be honest. In the end, everybody in here just waited for the one and only riff. And Europe kept this tune for the very end and encore.  Now lets pray, that The Final Countdown is not another countdown with a sudden end. You never know. Whether the day before yesterday, today or tomorrow, this song will follow Europe for ever, never mind, whatever they do in the future or they don't do. this thing will survive them for eternity....well let's talk again in 20 years time.
