Duran Duran

My first thought at the entry of Englands past teenie-pop idols is: my god, they really kept themselves in good shape over all these years. Respect! But unfortunately only about 2.500 fans have taken the chance to check out this. Wherby I am not sure, if they came here tonight because of the musical performance or the visuall aspect.  - And Duran Duran don't come on stage, they appear, not enthusiastic like in their high times, but rather quiet and sophisticated. Maybe to show their aging experience or whatsoever....

Probably most of the fans tonight are female fans of the first hour, but some are also kiddies, who weren't even born, when Duran Duran started out and who've been told about the group and their past success in the eightees. And there's one thing which hasn't change since then. It's the yelling and screaming with a 125 decibel limit. Jesus!!! I really do regret not to have my earplugs with mi tonight. At least noone is fainting this evening. "Yes of course" drummer Roger Taylor told me just befor the gig, "in the past the gigs were only the necessary work and the important thing was the party aftershow with drinks, drugs and girls. Today it's only the music what counts."
I did believe it 'till a certing content, but soon I have to discover, that the energy has gonne, the so called pepper is missing. Sorry Boys, but even the huge production can't hide this fact. All those hitsingles sound rather weak and without any power. Mixed with tracks from the new album "Astronauts" the show slows somehow down. Maybe the boys just have a bad day, who knows. I form my part rather have the feeling, those individuals up there on stage don't play together, but rather everyone plays for himself tanning in the limelight. Simon LeBon, John Taylor, Roger Taylor, Nick Rhodes and Andy Taylor - the original line-up, but somehow it's not what it used to be.

Last but not least and over all they are officially happy together again and play in piecefull harmony. How do I say so often?....
"Money seems the world go round" - or doesn't it?!!!

Metal Church / Chris Caffery

Nothing is as valuable as a glimpse into the past with the eyes of the present. And a nostalgic aura is getting along with it. I just remember, when I went to see the band back in 1991 in London at the famous Marquee Club. When their supportact suddenly was Metallica as part of a joke surprise act, and we were only about 30 people checking it out. It was heaven on earth and the non plus ultra.

But getting back from the ancient times ot the very day, this band has only been left with the shade of the past status role. It dumped down. What a shame! This band here shows  decent pretty good Heavy Metal, only a bit outta fashion. I feel pushed  immidiately 20 years back in time listening to these classical tunes. And it really does get through to the  75 people, who are here today, and they do like it. Metal Church still know how to rock the cradle, that's for sure. And it reminds me at times, when Heavy Metal has had a slight different status in the Musicbiz. There are only two members left of the original line-up, never mind. "Watch The Children Pray" still sound great, and will be their hymn also for the next ten years, when either this style of music had died, or gonne up again for a new era. - However keep on rocking...

Chris Caffery, yep, he has proved, he can do it also without Savatage or TSO. And he wants to prove himself, that there is much more within him, but only a guitarist. Yes, he can sing and can entertain, and he knows how to treat the audiance. The solotrip is starting successfully, as well as on CD as also live on stage, even he is only the support act tonight. But I'm pretty sure, it won't take much longer and this little rebell will enter the big stages of the world. For now we say: "Europe is beautiful - right Chris! - So take your chance - you own the world.
