27.09. 2005 Munich,  Elserhalle
Steve Vai / Eric Sardinas

Actually, one sentence would be enough to describe this 4 hours spectacle. Let the music do the brilliant talking. - And that's it. Not more no less. But you wouldn't be happy with a review like that, would you?!

Okay, then let me tell ya' briefly about the non plus ultra of musical perfection. It consists of 1) musicians named - Steve Vai, Billy Sheehan, Tony McAlpine, Dave Weiner and Jeremy Colson - no more comment about that. 2) The magic inbetween this soundgame is truly right including the harmony and everything else. And 3) those concerts are the best, when you don't watch the time, hoping it's over soon, and your legs don't hurt, even after 4 hours. - Th
ere's nothing above that.

But you need one thing for sure  for that kind of entertainment and this is endless love for real good music and whole lot of understanding as well what's up to the excellent quality. And so that's why at least half of the audiance are local musicians and insider. The rest are  chaps, who are nosy and just fans of rockmusic. All together comes to the result of an almost sold out show with 1.500 units. Yiipppiieeehh Munich certainly knows what musical quality sounds like.

Jesus wept, - this is good.

Steve Vai has got something else. He's got a very strong aura. This and his guitar play are enough to get us fascinated. No vocals are necessary. By the way, he has never been a nitingale anyway. But he doesn't have to be. Nobody in here misses the vocals. And when you got strong characters such as Billy Sheehan and Tony McAlpine on your right and left hand side, then literatually nothing can go wrong, apart the fact, the energy would fail. It doesn't of course. - McAlpine plays as well keyboard, as he does on his guitar. And Billy Sheehan gets introduced by Steve as the best bassist in the world. Yep, he's right. - Okay almost. I can't deny my very special love for Tony Levin, I have to confess. - But Billy is great in every sense.

Everything is 100% perfect and not a glimpse boring. This here is not Dream Theatre, who stand up there on stage, fideling their 20 minutes solos, without a movement in their faces. No, this here are also 20 minutes solos but accompanied by lots of movements, and you can feel, how much those guys up there enjoy their jobs. Christ.... 3 hourse full pover, not a second boredom, as I said before. No please don't you ever stop playing. We don't care, and we want more. I don't give a damn about my feet, I don't feel 'em.  "The Audiance is listening" - what a great piece of music! It has always been one of my faves. Even the videoclip is great. But also other greats of Steve's repertoire get performed in a tremendous way. As I often have said, the feeling to have experienced a good show does not only depend on the talents of the artist but also depends on the famous magic vibe. In this case it's there - 100% sure.
And yep, I'm still no musician, but I can feel it as well, - this is it, the peak of the mount everest.

Also Eric Sardinas, supporting Steve Vai like usual is a class for himself. Nobody plays the blues like him with such an intensity. But compared to his recent clubgigs here in Munich, which were phenomenal, tonight he doesn't get the certainly well deserved resonance. Maybe because everybody in here is waiting for god - named Steve Vai. What a pity, because this guy does not only look good, he is good.... on his guitar - I mean. Everything else - I don't know. I wonder, why Eric hasn't thought about moving over to here yet, as often as he is in town. He practices a different style as Steve Vai does, but one is good as the other. Steve actually told me in one interview, that he even learned some riffs of Sardinas.
So finally it ends within a great jamsession and these styles are uniting. And once again it shows, that music is universal, changeable and when the Bloody Mary gets enough pepper, then, how shall I say, - it's simply perfect.
No, definately no complains about this concert evening, except maye a few sound irritations coming from the soundpult.
"We'll be back again", Steve promises after one encore, to go off stage and come straight back again for a second time. . Then it's really time to go.

In any case thanx Steve for a glimpse into your sunglasses at 2.30 a.m., thanx Eric for 100 glimpses on your head and just one single one into your eyes, and thanx Billy for a saying hello and for everything. (Do you know yet, what it says on the heart now?) But over all, thank you guys for a great night out. And yes, please come soon back again.

PS.: 4 o'clock in the morning - oh Jes..... my feet are hurting....
