Saxon

Greetings for the tropic by at least 100 degrees in the spotlight shade. Jes.... even the icecubes in the mineralwater is sweating. And you even get them for free tonight. But Biff follows the hard strategy and denies any kind of air refreshment. He says, you only catch a cold by using aircondition. Not so - the lost son behind the drumkit - Nigel Glockler, who has happily returned into the nest after seven years of abstinence. And he's using even 3 coolers round his instrument. Of course well hidden, because the hardrocker doesn't know any pain, even beeing not the very youngest anymore.

800 Fans are steaming and sweating and almost exploding. Never mind, an indian doesn't know any pain, as we say so over here, exspecially when the flagship of NWOBHM is up there on stage. "Remember The Early Days" is the motto and offering a medley of songs from this first decade Including „Crusader“, „Denim & Leather“, „Wheels Of Steels“ and "747" as the encore. But to be honest, a Saxon concert wouldn't be a Saxon concert without those tracks, would it?!

The brits once again offer solid and powerful Heavy Metal. How shall I explain this now to get it right ? - They stand beyound good and bad, not in a negative sense, but they are untouchable. Yep Saxon are some kind of legend, okay - almost. But the band has certainly written a chapter in the Heavy Metal history. And over all, the group has become quite homely here in Germany over the years. They record albums in Germany, they have a german road crew, and they even speak german.... a little !

It doesn't happen very often, that fans get such enthusiastic in munich, like tonight with Saxon. There is some stage diving,  the beer flows, and Biff is christening the metalheads with water in the name of god - bless ya'. And he gives the statement: "I can talk as much as Joey DeMajo of Manowar can do." And he does so.  I'm not quite sure, whether this is a true comparison, or just another way to give it a bit of a rest inbetween the metalbombs.
Beeing in his midfifties Biff is still pretty fit, despite the given circumstances. Paul Quinn, Nibbs Carter and Doug Scarrett are holding on to it, doped with some bottles of Bitburger beer. (they probably don't know the delicious Munich -  Augustiner Edelstoff yet.)

However, all in all it has been a wet and energetic Heavy Metal evening, which has satisfied most of us. And this really means something here in Munich.
