Jon Oliva's Pain

”I've played John Lennons melodon, but I wasn't aware right at that moment. When somebody told me afterwards, it felt
                                                                                                                   like something really special"

Okay, tonight it surely ain't John Lennons melodon, Jon Oliva playes. But when asked about the highlights of his so far carriere, this is one of the facts he's gonna mention. Now, many years have passed with lots of depths and great times, including the worst time of his life, when his brother Chris passed away far too early in 1993. Nowadays Jon is pretty much okay again, but he will never overcome this tragic loss during the rest of his life. Every second song tonight is dedicated to Chris, is about Chris, or even written together with Chris. And over all, from the very first second 'till the very last one, the entire show is dedicated to Chris.
Though, this nice guy has not lost his humour, and he understands perfectly to entertain his fans here in his own individual way.

I maybe should mention, that this apprearance here in munich is an accoustic premiere. That's why we don't get a hardrockin' metal concert , but rather a artistically high quality performance with great songmaterial, not only from Pain, but also a medley of Savatage stuff, mixed with music of Jons biggest idols - The Beatles. Yep, he would have loved to meet John Lennon, to jam with him only once in a lifetime. But this dream will stay a dream, because noone ever has returned from beyond yet, not John Lennon, nor Chris. But he keeps 'em alive within himself, and within his music. No this here right now is whatsoever, but certainly no Heavy Metal concert of the usual way. Some of the aprox. 150 Savatage, TSO and Pain fans look a bit strange in the beginning, showing rather estonished faces, because the gig does not meet their exspectations of the usual off ripping hard rocking show. But I can watch their faces and from one minute to the other these kids get more and more enthusiastic about the fantastic concert. - Alrighty, that's how it should be, not more and not less.

Playing an accoustic show, musicians really show their talents. And the guys in the band honestly got some of it.
It's Party Time, not as energetic as usual, but with a lot feeling and harmony. And it proves, that this kind of music can leave some brilliant melodic impressions. Our little big man, of whom we don't wanna miss an inch is still damn good in what he does. Inspired by the spirit of Chris, John Lennon's melodon and  every day's life, he is quite a pleased man again, happy to stand on a stage and playing live after all this time. " Savatage is somehow broke, since Chis died", Jon says. "The soul of the band has died with him", he explains and sheds a teardrop.
"It's been a long time, that this (the teardrop) happened to me", he continues. - However, currently the Trans Sibirian Orchestra is his Life insurance. But Pain is his recarnation  to  a new touring life - live on stage with a fresh image, a better voice than ever and yes of course, with all his pounds. Without them, Jon wouldn't be Jon. And last but not least to round up this great evening here in munich, - outside on a wooden bench in front of the backstage door - a tasty Havanna cigar and some Wodka pure. Cheers and see you soon again....

They are young, dynamic and passionate. Greetngs from Italy mi amore.
without the typically saucy italien softi songs, but still with a lot of melodic feeling.
Fact is, the heritage for lyric-mystic hard rock is secured.
We hear more from them soon - for sure....
