Oh gosh, it's getting hard now. The highly praised triple  melodic rock package has eventually stopped over in munich, but a little broke. It's not only the stars of tonight, but also the countless audiance of about 75 souls sparkling here in all kind of shades. Halleluja, a gathering on top of the Himalaya is a huge event compared with this here. Only the funeral expressions and outfits are missing to make this scenery perfect.
But thanks god it's not the case. And those few lovers of the soft kind of Rock'n'Roll do stand behind their chosen heroes. Though the first sparkling star has aleady vanished before the gigs have even started yet according to the fact, that the frontman and boss of the rekarnated swiss rockexport 'Paganini' has become sick. The result is a stint of the other  three guys, who is New York guitarist Dale Powers who also handles the vocals to resuce whatever can be rescued. Respect, that this trio do their job straight through the eye without hesitating. And thanks to this fact, we forgive 'em some lack in the missing part.

Paganini have been going already in the eighties with two albums named: ‚Weapon Of Love’ 1985, and ‚Long Way To The Top’ 1987and two  Songs: ‚Long Way To The Top’ und ‚Berlin By Night’  which made them kinda popular in the hardrock league. Unfortunately that was it after one more piece named 'Detox' in 1990. Paganini was put to the files in a cupboard, to raise up now again 15 years later like Jesus on eastersunday. Yep, of course, why not. Be honest, most us don't even know from the first life of the band. From the original line up, there is only one left, Paganini himself, who by the way, has nothing in common with the famous classical violonist Niccolo Paganini, at least what's up to the music. ( I've got no knowledge about a maybe relation).  Just to make sure and mention it.

Apart from him and guitarist Powers, there is also bassist Christian Crétin, who came into the band in 2005 for the CD 'Resurrection'. He's a true poser, with a friendly grin on his face and physical articulation towards everyone, who holds a camera in his direction. By the way, and just to mention it, at this megaevent tonight, you can spot more photographers than at the premiere concert of the Rolling Stones. Again - Respect! Whereby here, surely the fanaspect rules more than the professionell art of photographing. And last but not least there is drummer Diego Rapaccietti, officially  from the italien part of switzerland according to his name, and who is a little longer in the band than his collegue Cretin. Exactly since 2003 and the album 'Esoterrorism', wich stood for the reunion of the group.
However, due to the circumstances you've gotta give the band at least a lot of potential, will, strongness and, like I said before, they are professionells. Every other band, would have cancelled their appearance, when the singer is missing.

And the Grand Finale’ – of course : „Berlin By Night“, and the guys of Jaded Heart are coming on stage to help out. That's what I call real nice neighbourhood help. And the point goes to the headliner. I mean what's up to the help.
Result is a handycap shaken, but still entertaining sting. And what's up to the music, this is straight rock through the bone, just the dot on the i is missing. Don't worry, we get it - next time hopefully.

’Lonely Is The Hunter’ was the slogan in 1984 an Insider Hit for fans of the munich scene, and for  Michael Voss and Mad Max. Yep, it's been quite a while. But now the eighties fosil is raising up to the sky of melodic rock again like phenix from the ashes. (by the way, who has invented this expression, I always ask myself again and again. Rockmusic is Rockmusic, either soft or hard. That's as simple as that.
To get it quick.
Rollin' Thunder“came out in 1984 and afterwards the records  „Stormchild“ (1985) and „Night of Passion“ (1987). Two years later the  Mad Max chapter was finished. But don't worry, Michael Voss did not get workless because of that and was involved in dozens of different projects, like Casanove and Silver just to mention two of it. And he is still a successful producer. But whatever got him to reunite Mad Max, I can't tell.

„Night of White Rock“ is the title of the reunion CD of Mad Max. Next to  Vossi and guitarist Jürgen Breforth also bassist Roland Bergmann and Drummer Axel Kruse, who also does his job for Jaded Heart, belong to the current Line up, and also JH collegue   Henning Wanner, who plays his Keyboard for both bands. But over all, Michael Voss definately has his name within the profi musicians league in Germany.

There a different question, which is up in the air. Does the world really need a reunion of Mad Max and their slightly dusty musical style? Close your eyes, and you feel transferred back into the eighties, in a time, which has got no place in the present music business right now.  Let's hope, that Mastermind Voss sees the whole thing as a nostalgic trip himself, to a bandproject, which is still running behind a recarnation of 'Lonely Is the Hunter'. Long talking, short sense. It is surely a high quality musicianship within it's performance, but the pepper in the ass is definately missing.

All good things are three, as we say so, or should I rather say, doubtful things?! And so Jaded Heart give it a go, whereby, the just mentioned Axel Kruse (drums) and Henning Wanner (keyb) put out a threedimensional marathon and don't even look exhausted. No, now the oven should get really heavily  heated  including the new sweds export Johan Falberg on vocals and Peter Oestros on lead guitar. They are fetching for acceptance for the left singer Michael Bormann. Oh no, it's not working honestly. I have never been a big friend of the original vocalist, but between him and this new skinny Puppy lies a whole world inbetween. Sorry that's a fact. Visually figaro Falberg looks like a mixture of a gothic punkhead, who flys in on a magic carpet, to start a southafrican raindance soon after. Jesus wept, I really do admire the words: 'move it and groove it'. But those movements of this overdimensional body height remind me much more of a spinal tap of Goliath, who is trying to compete with little David in ground exercises. But the most important fact at all is, that his voice volume  compared with the one of Borman is like a sparrow, who suffers from a chronical cough.

Okay, okay, that's a bit over the top, I know. But to be honest, after 25 minutes checkin' it out, it's enough for me, and I head off through the non existing crowd with some mates to pop around the corner in a club named 'Land Under' to have a glimpse at another forgotten pearl of rockmusic, who play an even more private party.

Just 20 something fans have found their way to this place, to check a band, who is only known to insiders and real freaks anymore. And also I do remember those glory times, when Tyla and his Dogs D'Amour  had risen up in the London scene in the late eighties with songs like 'Satelite Kid' and 'I Thought It Never Rains'. Yes is was a good, crazy and sparkling time, and I did love it very much indeed.
But time doesn't stand still, as we all know, exspecially what's up to trends. The glamrock outfit is past tense,
the generell attitude is a different one, and the music is straighter and more realistic. Even the just mentioned songs of the Dogs sound harder and more noncompromising as they did in the past. But shall I tell you somehthing? Despite the lack of visitors, - the Dogs D'Amour rock ten times better and harder, than Mac Max and Jaded Heart together did. Sad but true. Let's get it done, and Tyla rocks the time away. By the way, this guy must done something with himself. In 1990 he looked like Frankenstein and sons. Today he's even got something like an aura and much more character. Would you have told me this 15 years ago, I'd say, you're nuts. But this was yesterday and today is today. And fact is, the Dogs D'Amour 2006, with Magnum keyboardist Mark Stanway, still rock like heaven. No kiddin'. It's just a shame that no one really calls for them anymore. Yeah it's not fair, I know, but that's the truth, or better the goddamn business, - if we like or not.
