Im Sommer 2010 geht es für dich zum ersten Mal auf eine eigene Festival- Tournee. Beschreib doch mal , wie sich die Open Air Gigs von deiner Tour durch die Hallen unterscheiden werden…
„Größer! Ich muss wohl auch lauter singen . Ich habe noch nie in Stadien gespielt, aber ich wollte schon immer. Ich habe immer gedacht, dass ich nicht aufhören kann, bis ich das nicht gemacht habe. Das wird ein Spaß! Ich liebe Festivals wirklich, und ich liebe den Sommer. Es wird eine Rock-Show vom Feinsten. Wir haben die aktuelle Show ja jetzt schon ungefähr 156 Mal gespielt, es wird also gut tun, das Programm ein bisschen zu ändern.“
 In Sumer 2010 you heading out for your first own festival tour. Please describe the difference between you in door shows
and Open Air gigs....
„Bigger  I’ll have to sing louder . I never played stadiums, but I always wanted to, I always figured I couldn’t stop until I did. It’s gonna be fun! I really love festivals, I love summertime. It’s gonna be a rock-show – we have been doing the same show for coming up to 156 shows, so it’ll be nice to switch up the setlist.“

      Hast du jemals vor so vielen Menschen gespielt?
„Nein, viele der Festivals, bei denen ich aufgetreten bin waren genau so groß, aber es waren halt nicht meine eigenen! Ich glaube, beim V-Fest sind immer so 75.000? Das macht Spaß! Ich erinnere mich, dass ich mal in Deutschland vor ungefähr 150.000 Leuten mitten in der Stadt gespielt habe [Mannheim 2007]. Das war verrückt! Da kannst Du grad mal die ersten drei Reihen erkennen und dahinter sind …. Körpermassen. Aber das macht Spaß, das macht wirklich Spaß, das ist ein Trip!” 
Have you ever played in front of so many people before?
„No, a lot of the festivals that I have done have been like that, they just haven’t been my own! I think V-Fest is 75,000? It’s fun – I remember being somewhere in Germany [Mannheim 2007], do you remember when I was, it was something like 150,000 people in the city? That was weird! That was like you can see the first three rows of people and then it’s just…. Bodies! But it’s fun… it’s fun, it’s a trip.”

      Hast du schon Vorstellungen, wie genau das Programm aussehen wird?
„Ja – auf jeden Fall werden wir beim Funhouse-Thema bleiben, wir werden jede Menge Gäste haben. Das alles zusammenzustellen ist wirklich aufregend – vor allem weil ich diejenige bin, die aussuchen darf!”
Have you got any clue yet, what your program is gonna be like?
„Yeah, I mean it’s still definitively the Funhouse theme, it’s gonna be a lot of guests. Putting all that together is actually really, really exciting, ‘cause I get to pick.”

      Es ist geplant, dass dich einige andere Musiker begleiten werden – kannst du uns schon verraten, wer?
„Jede Menge Gerüchte…Nichts ist in Stein gemeißelt!”
There are some plans, that you'll be joined by some other musicians. Can you tell us - who?  
„Lots of rumors [grinst] Nothing’s set in stone yet!”  

      Man munkelt, die Ting Tings wären dabei…
„Hmm, ich liebe die Tings Tings, aber ich glaube, sie werden vielleicht nur bei einer einzigen Show dabei sein; meines Erachtens arbeiten sie auch an einem neuen Album. In den verschiedenen Ländern werden wir wohl auch verschiedene Künstler haben. Das macht auch ein bisschen mehr Spaß, immer mal wieder ein bisschen was anderes. Das wird wirklich nett werden, vor allem, weil ich dann auch Fan sein darf! Normalerweise gehe ich zu Festivals, bei denen ich sonst niemanden kenne. Das wird also auf jeden Fall lustig.”
There are rumours, Ting Tings will be with you....
„Hmm, I mean, I love the Tings Tings, I think they might only do one show, though, ‘cause I think they’re working on a new album. In different markets there are going to be different artists, I think, too, which is always fun to switch it up. I’ll be nice, because I can go and be a fan, too! Usually I go to some random-festivals, where I don’t really know anybody. So it’ll be fun.”  

      Auf deiner Tour gibst du auch einige akrobatische Einlagen. Wie hast du dich physisch darauf vorbereitet?
„Die Trapez-Nummern waren ein Stück Arbeit, ich musste dafür richtig trainieren, was sehr interessant war. Seidentücher und Bungee kannte ich schon, ich war ja auch acht Jahre lang Turnerin. Auf Tour bin ich wie eine Maschine, ich trainiere wie eine Verrückte. Ich sag immer: Morgen früh geh ich laufen, bis nichts mehr wackelt.”
On your tour you've got some real acrobatic stints included. How did you prepare on such things?
„The trapeze took some work, I actually had to train for that one, which was interesting. Silks and bungee I have been doing, I was a gymnast for eight years. I am a machine on tour, I work out like a crazy person. I always say: In the morning I will run until nothing shakes.”  
 

      Wie hältst du dich allgemein fit für den Auftritt?  
„Hmm, schlafen, Wein, Carey . Das Publikum macht es für mich aus: Wenn ich ein tolles Publikum habe, das laut ist und Energie verströmt, dann läuft es wie von selbst, dann wird das mein Tag, meine Woche… Aber wenn das Publikum nicht richtig dabei ist und sehr zurückhaltend, dann kann das schon schwer werden. Aber das kommt selten vor, bislang war alles immer richtig gut. Ich glaub von 150 Show hatten wir vielleicht zwei, wo man denkt: „Hallo? Ist überhaupt jemand da?” Ich habe ziemliches Glück – zu mir kommen immer coole Leute“
How do you keep fit for your shows?
„Hmm, sleep, wine, Carey . The audience does it: if it’s a great audience and the energy is there, then it fixes my whole life, it fixes my day, my week…If the audience is not really present or loud, it can be quite difficult sometimes. But that’s rare, it’s been good. I think out of 150 shows, we had maybe two audience, that were like “Hi there – is anyone there?” I’m pretty lucky – I have pretty cool people.“     
 

      Welche Beziehung hast du zu deinen deutschen Fans?
„Ich komme schon sehr lange immer wieder nach Deutschland und es war immer sehr, sehr nett hier für mich. Ich erinnere mich, dass es zu Beginn eigentlich hauptsächlich um Deutschland und England ging. Und dann ist Australien mit aufgesprungen. Aber Deutschland war immer dabei. Wir haben hier immer sehr viel Spaß.  Zum Beispiel gestern Abend: Der Weihnachtsmarkt ist heute ja auf, richtig? Gestern Abend waren noch die Bar-Stände geöffnet und ich stand da und habe Glühwein getrunken und die Leute kamen vorbei und fragten mich “Du bist doch nicht etwa P!NK, oder?”, aber alle sind immer so nett, ganz höflich, das ist echt cool.”  
What kinda relation have you got to your german fans?
„I’ve been coming to Germany for a long time, I’s always been really, really yummy here for me. I remember at one point it was basically Germany and the UK. And then Australia jumped on the boat. But it’s always been Germany. It’s always that we have a lot of fun here. Even last night – I think the Christmas market is open today, but the bars were open last night, I was just standing out there, drinking Glühwein and all the people coming up where like “You’re not P!NK, are you?”, but everybody is soo nice, easy to talk to, it’s cool.”  
 

      Muss eine Rock-Show heute auch Entertainment-Charakter haben?
„Ich glaube nicht, dass sie das muss, auf keinen Fall. Ich meine, wenn ich an eine Rock-Show denke, denke ich an laute Gitarren, schreien, schwitzen, vielleicht auch etwas Alkohol im Spiel… Meine Shows sind etwas vielfältiger, weil ich ja auch Popsongs schreibe, und ich schreibe Folk-Songs und R’n‘B-Songs. Ein Teil meiner Show ist sicherlich eine Rock-Show, aber es gibt auch Teile, die eher… hm, größer sind. Ich meine damit nicht „größer“ im Sinne von „besser“, sondern… naja, es ist vielleicht eher fast so wie Gruppensex – anders kann ich das jetzt nicht beschreiben.”
Does a Rockshow neccessarely need to have entertainment character?
„I don’t think it requires, definitively not, I mean, when I think of a Rockshow I think of loud guitars, screaming and sweat, possibly some alcohol involved… My shows are a little bit more eclectic, ‘cause, you know, I write popsongs, too, and I write Folk-Songs and R’nB-songs. There is portions of it, that are definitely Rockshow, but there’s also portions of it that I think are just more… bigger. Not “bigger” in a “better” way, just… It’s more like a cluster-fuck [lacht] it’s the only way I can describe it.”    
 

      Wirst du auch Künstler abseits der Musik zu deiner “Funhouse Summer Carnival Tour“ einladen? Der Name schreit ja förmlich danach…
„Ich denke schon, bestimmt, bestimmt… Das ist alles… wir sind noch in einem sehr frühen Stadium. Momentan arbeite ich an der Setliste und danach kümmern wir uns um das nächste, aber es werden auf jeden Fall spaßige Sachen dabei sein.“
Will you invite artists beyond the music to your Funhouse Carnival Tour. The name truly asks for it, doesn't it?!
„I think so, I think, so, I think so  It’s still all… I’m in early days… I’m working on the setlist now and then I move on to all the fun stuff, but there is definitively fun stuff involved.“
 

     Wirst du im Sommer auch Songs anderer Künstler covern?
„Ich bin ein >cover girl<, ich liebe es, anderer Leute Songs zu spielen, manchmal sogar mehr als meine eigenen. Also, ja!  Aber andere, ganz, ganz andere.”
Will you cover other artist's songs also this summer?
„I’m a cover girl, I love playing other people’s songs, sometimes more than my own. So, yeah. But different, totally different.”  
 

      Was nimmst du aus Deutschland mit nach Hause?
„Oh ja! Was nehme ich mit?! Auf jeden Fall nehme ich jedes Mal, wenn ich hier bin, ein Glühwein-Rezept mit nach Hause. Den mag ich definitiv weltweit am allerliebsten. Weihnachten werde ich welchen zu Hause in meiner eigenen Küche machen. Für meine Mutter habe ich einige Marionetten gekauft… es kommt ein bisschen darauf an, wo ich hinkomme. Wenn ich es auf den Weihnachtsmark schaffe, kaufe ich alle möglichen Sachen. Ich hatte dieses Jahr gar keinen Sommer, nirgends, wo ich war. Ich weiß schon gar nicht mehr, was man im Sommer so macht. Wir sind jetzt schon eine ganze Weile dem Winter hinterhergereist…”
What are you taking back home from Germany?
„Oh yeah! Well, ah what do I take?! Actually, everytime I’ve been here I’ve taken home a Glühwein recipe. Obviously that’s my favorite thing in the entire world. I will be making it for Christmas, at home in my own kitchen. I got my mom some Marionettes… It just depends on where I am at. If it’s a Christmas-market, I’m getting all kinds of stuff. I haven’t been in the summer – anywhere, for about a year now. I don’t know what you do in the summer anymore. We’ve been chasing winter for a long time.”   

      Von allen großen Stadium-Acts dieser Welt bist du der Jüngste – was für ein Gefühl ist es für dich, in einer Liga mit den Rolling Stones, U2 oder Madonna zu spielen?
„Das macht mich sehr, sehr glücklich. Ich tue das, was ich mache, ja erst seit ein paar Jahren. Ich habe bislang drei wirklich große Tourneen in meinem Leben gemacht. Das ist nicht viel im Vergleich zu einigen von den eben genannten. Aber ich habe immer diese Zieletappen, die ich erreichen will. Und das war eine davon. Ich finde das also sehr aufregend. Wenn es sozusagen ‘nur’ um ein paar weitere Shows gegangen wäre, hätte ich wohl eher gesagt “Ah, ich glaube es ist Zeit, wieder nach Hause zu kommen”. Aber ich halte das lieber so wie mit meiner USA-Tournee. Ich war noch nie auf einer eigenen Tour durch die Staaten bis letzten September, und das war dann großartig für mich, das war ein Meilenstein. Nächstes Mal für eine Stadion-Tour zurückzukommen, ist ein weiterer Meilenstein. Mein Akkustik-Album, das ich irgendwann mal machen werde, ist auch so ein Meilenstein. Ja, das ist alles sehr aufregend. Ich fühle mich jedenfalls wohl in so einer Gesellschaft “ 
From all big stadium acts on this world, you are the youngest one. What kinda feeling is this playing amongst a ligue like the Rolling Stones, U2 or Madonna
„It makes me really, really happy. I have been doing, what I do now for some years. I have had three major tours in my life. That’s not a lot as compared to some of these other people. But I always have these next sort of goal-markers, that I have to get to. And this was one of them. So, I’m actually really excited. If it were just some more shows, I might be kind of like “Ah, it’s time to go home”. But I keep being it like the US-tour – I have never been touring the US until this past September, so that was awesome for me, that was a mile-marker. Stadiums next time around is another mile-marker. My acoustic record is a mile-marker that I’ll get to at some point. But – it’s pretty exciting. I like the camp that I’m in.“  
 

     Du bist vor kurzem dreißig geworden. Wie sehr unterscheidest du dich heute von dem Bild, das du dir früher gemacht hast, wenn du dir vorgestellt hast, wie es ist, dreißig zu sein?
„Ich habe nicht an die Dreißig gedacht. Für mich habe ich das nicht gesehen. Als ich jünger war, war dreißig alt. Aber jetzt ist es eher: so alt ist es dann doch überhaupt nicht, ich bin doch noch ein Baby. Für mich gab’s Dreißig-sein nicht. Ich war froh, dass ich’s über die 27 geschafft hatte. Ich habe keine Ahnung. Ich meine, ich habe alles gemacht, von dem ich es wollte, seit ich sechs war. Jetzt ist alles einfach anders.“
You just turned 30. In how far it does defer from the picture that you've got in the past, when you imagined beeing 30?
„I didn’t think thirty. I didn’t see thirty. When I was young, thirty was old. Now it’s like: it’s really not old at all, I’m still a baby. I didn’t see thirty. I was happy to make it past 27. I have no idea. I mean, I’ve done everything I said I was going to do when I was six. Now it’s just different.“  
   

     Mit „Dear Mr. President” hast du einst George W. Bush kritisiert. Welchen Inhalt würde ein Song über den neuen Präsidenten der USA, Barack Obama, haben?
„Für die Zeit seiner Präsidentschaft war ich die meiste Zeit ja gar nicht im Lande. Aber ich bin besessen von CNN, das sehe ich ständig. Ich bin jemand, der ihn gewählt hat und ich bin bereit, noch etwas auf Ergebnisse zu warten, weil ich genau weiß, wie sehr die letzte Regierung die Sachen in den Sand gesetzt haben. Ich bin nicht eine von denen, von denen man in den Staaten immer mehr hört, die sagen: „OK, das sind jetzt schon neun Monate, warum ist die Welt immer noch nicht besser?“ Ich weiß nicht, wie so ein Song von mir sein müsste. Mein Song wäre wohl eher so „Ich bin noch da, ich stehe immer noch hinter Dir!“ Und das wäre wohl eher etwas langweilig, oder?.”'
With 'Dear Mr.President' you did critizice George W.Bush. What content a song would have on president Obama now?
„I’m sort of, I’ve been out of the country for his entire presidency so far. But I do have an obsession with CNN. I’m the kind of person, that voted for him and I am willing to wait a while to get results, ‘cause I know how much the last administration screwed things up. I’m not of what you see back in the States, of people going: “Well it’s been nine months, why isn’t the world a better place?” I don’t know what my song would be. My song would be “I’m still here, I’m still behind you!” It would be quite boring, actually .”

     Nach deinen letzten Hallenkonzerten wirst du jetzt zu Beginn dieses neuen Jahres erstmal eine mehrmonatige Pause einlegen – was hast du da vor?
„Kochen, dick werden, meine Hunde knuddeln… Ich habe keine Ahnung, ich habe eigentlich noch nie so lange frei gehabt, vielleicht schreibe ich ein paar Songs. Ich weiß eigentlich nicht so genau, was ich machen soll, ohne… Ich hab seit zehn Jahren nicht mehr eine so lange Pause gehabt. Von daher, macht es mich ein bisschen nervös.“
After you indoors tour you will take a break of several months. What are you gonna do?
„Cooking, getting fat, melasting my dogs… I have no idea, I’ve never actually had this much time off, I’ll probably just write more songs. I don’t really know, what I’ll do without… I haven’t had time off like this in ten years. So  it’s kind of nerve-wrecking.“  
 

     Woher nimmst du dir die Inspiration für deine Songs?
„Scheidung war ein großer Punkt bei meinem letzten Album. Einfach, was so alles passiert. Ich schreibe eigentlich nie einfach so. Ich meine, ich schreibe Gedichte, und ab und zu in mein Tagebuch. Aber ich schreibe eigentlich keine Songs, bis ich nicht direkt ins Studio gehe, um ein Album aufzunehmen. Das muss sich dann so nach und nach aufbauen. Es gibt dieses Sprichwort: Du brauchst zwanzig Jahre, um dein erstes Album zu schreiben, und dann sechs Monate, um das zweite zu machen. Deshalb nervt das zweite so. Deshalb versuche ich zu warten und es aufbauen zu lassen, damit es nicht überkocht. Ich weiß nicht, was ich machen werde, wahrscheinlich die Wände hoch gehen.” 
From where are you taking the inspiration for your songs?
„Divorce was a major factor in the last record. Just whatever is going on. I don’t write at all. I mean, I write poetry and scribble in my diary, but I don’t write songs at all until I actually show up to the studio to make a record. It has to kind of build and build and build. There is that saying: it takes you twenty years to make your first record and six months to write the second. That’s why the second record sucks. So I try to wait and just let it build. Not have it boil over. I don’t know what I’ll gonna do, I’m gonna be climbing the walls.”  

     Nutzt du verschiedene Portale im Internet, um dich mit Freunden auszutauschen?
„Ich hab’s nicht so mit Facebook, und ich hab’s auch noch nie so mit Myspace gehabt. Ich versteh‘s einfach nicht, ich hab’s auch noch nie verstanden. Für Twitter habe ich eine Weile gebraucht, und jetzt ist das meine erste Technologie-Sucht. Ich bin nicht gut darin, mit meinen Freunden Kontakt zu halten, ich bin nicht gut darin, anzurufen.  Wenn bis zehn Uhr morgens nicht genug passiert ist habe ich auch keine Lust, das um zehn Uhr abends noch mal aufleben zu lassen. Mit Twitter ist das recht einfach. Es bleiben 140 Stellen stehen. Wieviele Leute kannst Du mit 140 Buchstaben nerven? Es ist halt eine einfache Art, alle zur selben Zeit wissen zu lassen, was Du grad machst oder wie es Dir geht. Und die Leute, mit denen ich twitter, sind urkomisch. Ich mag’s einfach [grinst]. Aber ich stimme auch der anderen Seite zu, ich bin ein wandelnder Widerspruch. Ich stimme den Leuten zu, die sagen es wäre eigentlich verrückt, allen möglichen Leuten ständig zu erzählen was Du so machst und dann andererseits Privatsphäre zu erwarten. Ich bin mir da also noch nicht ganz einig, aber ich mach’s trotzdem.”
Are you using all these different ports on the internet to exchange yourself with friends?
„I’m not in the, the whole facebook-thing, I have never been into Myspace, I don’t get it, I’ve never gotten it. Twitter, it took me a while to come around to but I am, it’s my first technological addiction. I’m not good in keeping in touch with my friends, I’m not good at calling people, if not enough happens until 10 o’clock in the morning, I don’t want to rehash it at ten o’clock at night. So Twitter is just an easy way. 140 characters will last, so how many people can you piss of in a 140 characters? It’s just an easy way to let everybody know at the same time what’s going on with you. And the people I follow are hilarious. I just like it [grinst]. But I agree with the other side of it, too, I’m sort of a walking contradiction. I agree with the people that say that it’s kind of weird that you go on and tell people what you do all the time and then expect privacy. So, I’m very conflicted about it, but I still do it.”   
 

     Bist du umweltbewusst?
„Ja, das bin ich, vor allem für Charity. Viele meiner Freunde kennen sich sehr, sehr gut mit dem Thema aus, also überlasse ich denen gerne die Zügel. Ich selbst bin vor allem mehr auf der Seite der Tiere.”
Are you concious about environment?
„I am, charity-wise I am. A lot of my friends are very, very specifically knowledgeable about that and I let them take the reins. I’m more into the animal side of things.” 
 

     Stimmt es, dass du nach eurer Trennung wieder mit Carey Hart zusammen bist?
„Ja, das ist so eine Art modernes Märchen, unsere Liebegeschichte. Ein Auf und Ab der Gefühle.” 
Is it true, that after your seperation with Carey Hart, you're together again now?
„Yeah, it’s, it’s a modern day fairytale, our lovestory. It’s bumps in the roads.”

      Deine aktuelle Single ist  „I Don’t Believe You“ – ist das einer deiner Lieblingssongs auf dem Album „Funhouse“?
„Einer davon. Als ich den Song geschrieben habe, war es einer der schmerzvollsten Songs zum Hören. Jetzt stehe ich ja quasi auf der anderen Seite, deshalb ist es jetzt ein bisschen einfacher. Aber – ja, es ist einer meiner Lieblingssongs. Ich finde, es ist ein sehr schönes Lied.“
Your current single is 'I Don't Believe You'. Is this one of your favories on the 'Funhouse' album?
"One of them. At the time of writing it, it was one of the most painfull songs to listen to. Now I’m sort of on the other side of things, so it’s a little easier. But – yeah, it’s one of them. I think it’s a pretty song.“  

     Hat die Musik weitergeholfen, dass du und Carey wieder zusammengekommen seid?
„Ich weiß nicht… Ich weiß nicht, ob sie geholfen hat. Ich meine, ich bin ja in seinem Club aufgetreten, das hat bestimmt geholfen, aber nicht auf die Musik bezogen. Aber, nein, ich glaube nicht, dass sie das war, was ihn wieder dazu gebracht hat, sich mir gegenüber wieder so lovy-dovy zu fühlen. Ich glaube nicht, dass gerade der Song dabei geholfen hat .”
Has music helped that you got back together with Carey?
„I think, I don’t know. I don’t know if it helped. I mean, obviously I was performing at his club, so that helped, not musically. But, no, I don’t think that that’s what made him so lovy-dovy about me. I don’t think that song necessarily helped .”
   

     Muss man jetzt, da ihr wieder zusammen seid, fürchten, dass du nur noch langweilige, glückliche Lieder schreibst?
„Nein, ich schreibe keine Happy-Songs. Ich bin eine nutzlose Musikerin, wenn ich glücklich bin, ich bleibe dann nur im Bett! In jeder Beziehung gibt es Höhen und Tiefen, auch immer wieder im Leben. Aber es gibt immer etwas, was einen antreibt, jedes Mal, wenn Du Nachrichten guckst. Oder wenn Du Freunde hast, die etwas anderes machen als Du selbst. Meine ganze Familie geht ja ganz normal arbeiten, sie haben ihre Probleme und da gibt es immer etwas zu sagen.
So as you're both together now, do we have to fear, that from now on you write only boring and happy songs?
„No, I don’t write happy songs. I’m a useless musician when I’m happy. I just stay in bed! In any relationship there’s ups and downs, in life there’s ups and downs. There’s always something to be inspired by as long as you watch the news. Or have friends that don’t do what you do. My entire family is working-class, and they’ve got their stuff and there’s always something to say.
 

      Ist es nicht schwierig zusammen zu bleiben, wenn ihr euch so selten seht?
„Jede Beziehung ist kompliziert. Ich glaube, eine Beziehung, in der man sich jeden Tag sieht, ist genau so schwer. Für mich jedenfalls! „Guten Morgen!” “Jaaa, Guten Morgen schon wieder.” [lacht] Worüber redet man? Ich glaube, dass Entfernung auch hilft, solange es nicht zu viel wird.”
Ain't it difficult beeing together, when seeing each other so seldom?  
„Any relationship’s difficult. I think a relationship where you saw the person every day would be just as difficult. For me! „Morning!” “Yeah – good morning again”[lacht] What do you talk about? I think distance helps, as long as it’s not too much.”  
 

      Nimmt er dich ab und an mit seinem Motorrad mit und rast mit dir den Highway herunter?
„Ich bin kein speed girl. Offensichtlich ist er ein Geschwindigkeits-Freak, aber ich nicht. Im Auto vielleicht, aber nicht auf dem Motorrad… ich fahre mit meinem Motorrad nicht schnell. Eine nette Rundtour durch die Landschaft mit einer Weinprobe – das mag
ich .” 
Does he take you along on his bike speeding down the Highway?
„I’m not a speed girl. Obviously, he’s a speed freak, but I’m not. Cars maybe, but motorcycles… I don’t go fast on my motorcycle. A nice, slow wine-tasting ride through the country is fine with me :”  

     Hast du den Eindruck, für aktuelle weibliche Künstler wie Katy Perry, Duffy oder Lady Gaga eine Tür geöffnet zu haben?
„Nein, das denke ich nicht. Ich meine, keiner erfindet das Rad neu, ich jedenfalls auf keinen Fall. Ich habe Madonna immer als Person betrachtet, die für viele von uns eine Tür geöffnet hat. Und Wendy Williams und Pat Bennetar und… Eigentlich öffnet jeder irgendeine Tür. Jedenfalls haben sie alle etwas ganz besonderes gehabt. Als ich rauskam, hat sich viel geändert, jedenfalls hat sich alles sehr schnell für mich geändert, nachdem “Mizunderstood” rauskam und zum Pop-Rock-Radio Hit wurde. Aber ich glaube nicht, dass das irgendwas besonders Originelles mit mir zu tun hatte, es war wohl einfach die richtige Zeit.“  
Du you have the impression, that you have opened a door for artists like Katy Perry, Duffy or Lady Gaga?
„No, I don’t think so. I mean, no one is reinventing the wheel, I certainly didn’t. I always looked at Madonna as one of the persons that helped open the door for all of us. And Wendy Williams and Pat Bennetar and… Anyone has been kicking the door open. They’ve got their own thing for sure. As far as what was going on when I came out, things rapidly changed after “Mizunderstood” came out, for sure. Became a pop-rock radio-station thing. But I don’t think anything I was doing was original, but it was timing.“
 

      Wie gefällt dir, dass es so viele angesagte weibliche Künstler gibt?
„Ich mag es, dass die Frauen gerade viel druckvoller sind. Eine Weile gab es ja nur diese ganzen Boybands, das war ja schon fast unheimlich. Und jetzt ist es ein Haufen verrückter Ladies – das mag ich! “
How do you like the fact,that there are so many great female artists right now?
„I – I like how many female are fierce right now. A while, there was all boybands, and it was getting kind of really scary. And now it’s just a bunch of crazy ladies, I like it.“
