Do you still remember 'Jessie' the one and only real big hit, Joshua Kadison had over here in Europe. That happened quite a few years ago in December 1993, when he stormed the charts with this song. In America he had an even bigger success with 'Beautiful In My Eyes'. And because all good things are three, here in Europe he had another hit with 'Picture Postcards From L.A.' a little later on, - which again didn't do in the US. Unfortunately like many things in life, it never lasts, and the following years went by with nothing special in particular. Meanwhile this - every girl's dream has reached the age of 41. The long hair is gonne for a pretty short one. Joshua is still very popular mainly by women due to his charming smile, that's pretty much sure, as I can realize tonight at this venue here.
ut last but not least it's still the music, which is most important, - soft, smooth, a little sad and just right for the ladies.

Piano, one person on stage and a seated venue, - what else do you want, exept a perfect performance. Mr.Kadison knows how to do it, and asks his fans to join him on stage, sitting around his piano on the ground. And of course he doesn't have to tell 'em twice, and they fullfill his wish from one minute to the other, and the crowd in the back moves forwards. Next move is Joshua's comment: "do you mind, if I take my boots of? My feet have suffered from the long flight to Europe". Of course nobody minds. And it doesn't matter, that in fact, he has flown in already a few days ago, and he should be alright by now, shouldn't he?! But thanks to his innocent smile , all these hearts in here have melted already like vanillaice in the sun. He can tell 'em up there whatsoever, it doesn't matter... mixed with his soft piano music  and his even softer voice. Mr. Kadison encourages the people to sing along with him and maybe look at each other. And he offers them, to help out, if someone hasn't got to look at another ... another point for him....

His musical repertoir includes his own songs, but also a tribute to Cindy Lauper and 'Time After Time' and John Lennon's 'Imagine'. He throws in a political comment about the fact, that he has not voted for president Bush last time. - Who cares - here right now?! All this followed by the track 'The Unknown Soldier'.. And then finally the song everybody has waited for all the time, - 'Jessie'. No, you can whatever you want, but this song hasn't lost it's magic within it's 13 years of existence. The encore  is U2's „I still haven’t found, what I’m looking for’. Time to go now, 'cause if I can't stand one band personally, then it's U2. However, the generell review  includes 400 very pleased, mainly female fans, who wil remember this softy showcase fo quite a while, I presume.
My dedication goes to my collegue Martin from Musix Magazine, who took care, that I haven't left early. I just ask myself, what the hell has got him here, our Glam-punkrock- media specialist... And what - by the way - did I do here....?!
