...why not actually friday the
13th? - So what? - that's why... To be different from the usual norm.
And that's what Wednesday 13 are, at least what's up to the visual
aspect. Though we already have got quite a few of this sort of, like
Alice Cooper meets Marilyn Manson and Slipknot divided by Gorgoroth
etc. Out of a photographer's view it's great and colourful thanks to
bride make up and an artistic hairdressing. Musically these four
figures taken out of the Adams monster family rather go for simple
structured punkrock with flowing melodies easy to remember for.
And Wednesday 13 are actually related somehow with the Slipknot Family.
It was Slipknots drummer Joey Jordison, who founded his sideproject 'Murderdolls',
who's singer Wednesday 13 who named himself after a figure out of the
TV series Adams Family, got himself another band again, named
after himself. There is no need to mention, that Wednesday is a huge
Horror Genre fan, because of his look and stylistic including posh
paleness and hopelessly knoted dreadlocks. Don't copy it, if you
like your own hair and wanna keep it for a long time..

But no surprise at all, as all those 250 fans here like this
underworld fashion line, shown up there on stage by their heroes. And
people like me in pretty normal street clothes are the exotic looking
one's, not the other way round.
But whoever would have thought, because of the look he will receive a
sort of gothic dark sound, is wrong. No dark wave music accompanied by
a grave voice in the middle of a foggy dizzy light. But there
we've got very big lights and the amps whip the tunes through the air
into the room, torturing our hearing senses with it's hard punkbeat.
And I have to admit, yep these boys got some potential. At
least, they are offering us sing along songs easy to remember, like I
mentioned before. And this here is no undefined noise polution like
some other bands practice, who like this look as well. So now we know,
look has nothing got to do with the music, - sometimes. Okay okay,
Wednesday 13 wanna transfer an bad horror image, but they don't really,
do they?!
'I Walked With A Zombie' is a piece, which got already some kind of
hitstatus in fan circles, and everybody in here is singing with the
band. And our Alice Cooper meets Twisted Sister tenor asks his
admirers for countless fucks to push the average
revolution against the posh society. 200 middle fingers are up in the
air and do what the boss tells 'em. The thing is on the other side,
this song is ment to be a sentimental lovesong really... however
you can combine sentimental with punkrock......
To describe the whole impression
of Wednesday 13 in short words... Those americans have the
talent to do go their way. They only still miss out on a bit
experience and a bit more power in the ass. Because sometimes songs
tend to loose their energy after a while, although they started out
like an explosion. But the foundation is certainly there . And I'm
pretty sure, next time the world and the whole situation live on stage
look a bit different.
PS: hope there will be a next time. You never know in this fastliving
music world nowadays.....
