"I
presume you might know the sketch 'Dinner For One', including the famous
sentence: 'same procedure like every year'?!! And when I look at this
here tonight, I get remembered to exactly that one. - Grandfather is
dancing with his grandson, and mami with her daughter. This is
Rock'n'Roll for everybody, and for every generation, never getting out
of fashion during the past 40 years. Because that's the time this guys
from Great Britain do exist as a bandso far. Always the same round the
clock the whole year, never changing and everything sounds somehow the
same. But this is the company secret of Status Quo, which keeps 'em
alive for eternal, even they stop playing live on stage. Yeah okay, it
is physically not possible, so let's live for the moment don't think
about tomorrow and not about yesterday. Rockin'g like hell always the
same way and going for the strategy: rocking all over the world. -
Jes... the venue is crowded fitting in aprox 1.300 fans of all ages and
party has just started. The Kilimandscharo is steaming hotter than the
Ätna, and the waves of sounds are fightng with the temperature's
boiling hot spot, at least within the first 30 rows. I wouldn't like to
be in there in the middle, 'cause I don't fancy to make my testament yet.
It’s
Showtime in the truest sense of the word. Status Quo let the balls
rolling, always great and always the same way, and these oldies are
still youthful like alyways, and always again and again.

Are there actually any changes to the past or to other rockconcerts in
the sense of the spectator? "Yep, of course there are any', Rick
Parfitt told me shortly before the show. 'It's not me, but the other
one's are starting to get a bit thin hair', - and he grins. Okay, if
this is it, it shouldn't be too bad, should it?! Because on stage Rossi
and Co. seem still energetic and not bothered by rheumatism. Nop, they
are strong and going. Fans of all age classes are still celebrating them
for the first time or for the 25th time. And even Music lovers of the
very hard sort of Rockmusic get sparkling eyes and banging their brains
into pieces.

And
we oldies rock along as well and get young and cool again. Yes, you
should see us. Every hardrocker in this world would get jealous
about this view here. This is true hard stuff and an absolut
serious, crazy party in hell. It's knocking you out and the enthusiasm
is releasing a chainreaction. Take it easy, don't give a f.... about
conventions. or difficult advanced tunes or extra quality. It's
partytime. Status Quo are rocking like always, I told you before, and
the blow us away. You can't excape..... and we are feeling like 25 (some
of us in here are anyway only that young) Rick Parfitts comment on that
with his sexy smile: ' I became 58 three days ago, and I'm still feeling
like 57.' Okidok, he can say that, because nobody believes him anyway.
One thing is for sure, these rockers beeing almost sixty years of age
are still more lively and energetic than some of their young collegues,
- no question about that. Physically on stage, the vision, mentally,.....
- the last aspect is ment for Mr.Parfitt. :-)
PS.: how often did I actually mention the word always or always again
within this review?! But to be honest, there is nothing else to say
about Status Quo for the past 40 years. Only maybe.... it has been a
super Rock'n'Roll party..... like always and again.....
