It’s Grufti-Session again, at the local graveyard, or better known as the small Elserhalle, at least what's up to the second supportband Lacrimas Profundere. First hot iron dismissed again - sorry. To my own excuse I can just say: messy me comes before ignorance, if you know what I mean. And just between you and me, three acts is sometimes just to many goodies at once. But maybe I just do not have the nesessary condition. Who knows.

Our sad boys here come from the beautiful Chiemsee in Babaria, and have lately drawn some attention within the cemetary scene.
And the music is as dark as this scene and also the generell lights in here. My camera is swearing the hell out about the conditions to just gat anything outta that. Out of the dawn within the usual 3 songs time distance including - no flash  please -
At least the organizers have shown mercy by providing a pit, though this one here hasn't got the size of a motorway. Only due to the fact, that there ain't no second paparazzi, who get's in my way, let's me act with fast reactions catching every small shimmer comeing down from the ceiling. Spilling some teardrops is the motto as well as the bandname, translated from the latin language. And it's not only this. Because our frontman here is kissing the ground at one point not on purpose of course, but from up on stage down on thg ground. Autsch, that must have really hurt. But thanks to the dark atmosphere here, you can't make out his wet eyes. Musically Lacrimas Profundere are a crossing between Type'O'Negative and Sisters Of Mercy with a bit The Mission mixed up to try to create an individual line.Very difficult nowadays, thanks to these piles of young hopefull acts. And you here always the same sentence again: we've heard that before. Technically not that bad, and yes, the average mood within the venue is there, arms are up in the air, which is not that usual for supportbands. But this band does it in words and in acting the right way.

Lacuna Coil, - auweia, now it's getting difficult again for me. They are difficult to put in a certain cathegory. And with a female singer you thinnk immidiately about Nightwish. But with that band the italian here have got nothing in common at all. It's like Iron Maiden compared with Louis Armstrong. And even less comparison is  here to the band before. This here is a sort of modern rock, pretty melodic, but with a very individual touch. Maybe it's the italien stamp.

I'm not quite sure by myself, and I have to confess, personally it's not really my cup of tea. But this is me and a matter of personal taste. The frontpart is shared by even two figures dressed in white shirts with ties. The rest of the orchestra is hidden behind masks in the beginning, which reminds me fairly on the carneval of Venice. So it must be the italien touch. But why not? Noone has to deny his heritage. The local lightconditions haven't much improved in the meantime. But I would not have asked for more anyway tonight. Lacuna Coil show a lot temperament and are very impulsive. Probably it's the typical mentality of the country where they come from. Movement in the first row and a very loud tenor, sorry two tenors. I give another 30 minutes after taking pictures to get a bit of a clue outta them, and then I'm off the shore here.

But not, because I can't stand this here anymore, it's more to catch up with another band on the same evening at another venue. It's Little Axe - live on stage at the posh nightclub of our Nr.1 Hotel Bayerischer Hof in the center of the city.

And yes I get a big piece of the cake including the icing, alltogether 70 minutes of first class music. It feels like beeing transfered from the equator to the mount McKinley within seconds - musically. Because this here has absolutely nothing to do with the artists before. Holy ghost, I thank myself for my musical flexibility. Otherwise I'd do pretty hard with so much difference and style breaking variety. Little Axe du an energetic mix of Dub-Reggae, Jazz, Blues, Funk, Ambient and Hip Hop. And most of all here are musicians playing you can easily put on the highest level you can reach. It's Skip McDonald, and according to the scene and the media, he has transfered the Blues to the new century. Including all his other influences, he calls the music he plays, simply nu blues.
The 57 years old american has created the project 'Little Axe' in 1992 together with his longterm partner Keith LeBland (drums) and Doug Wimbish (bass). We all do know Doug from his other more well known band 'Living Colour'.

But back to Little Axe, who in the past have put out four albums distributed by majorlabel Virgin records. And now they've just put out another one named 'Stone Cold Ohio' on Peter Gabriels Real World label.
Holy shit, they are god damned brilliant, and these are truly musical genius up there, each for himself. But most of all it is the bass, who is fascinating me most. To be honest till this very evening I didn't even know, that you can play such tunes with a bass.
And when I forget to close my mouth while listening, then it really means something. (which doesn't mean, I'm a rent a mouth. - I'm not) Over all, this performance of Little Axe here couldn't be more colourful, powerful and thanks to a great improvisation put into the exact right light. The lyrics are rather simple, typical Mississippi blues stories which tells you more then some other oversized tracks of an average popband. The beat changes itself between blues and soul leading even into hardrock. You never know what comes next, and it seems, everything is up to a mood of the musicians and a coincident. But because of the spontanious instrumental act it doesn't seem boring at all.
It's a diamond between all these thousands concerts, and the fusion gets a new meaning. Help me.... I rather stop now, otherwise I get lost in further five pages of exitement. But this lot here honestly deserves it.

PS.: Living Colour live on tour in Europe in December!
