Damn,
I know, I'm getting on some readers titts occasionally. But the memories
about past times are there. So when now and then an act comes along ,
who I have experienced already in the eighties, then of course - I
remember immdiately and and draw a comparison in front of my inside eye.
I can't help. On the other side I must say, that I'm pretty glad about
all those memories in the past, and I don't wanna miss them.
But however, let's start with the supportact, who listens to the name 'Evidence
One'. And all you hardrock lovers here in Germany and surrounding, know
what I'm talking about. Don't you?!

Anyway, Evidence One play solid hardrock in a pretty much german
stylistik. It's as simple as that. So you put them in the category of
all these other HM bands here. That's okay, but......!!!!! The big bonus
of this group is surely their singer and frontman Carsten Schulz. And I
don't say that, because I know him for a long time as a very nice guy.
As small as he is what's up to his body height, as big is his stage
presence and his voice. I have experienced this fact a few times before
checking him out with a different band. But that's past tense anyway.
The advantage is, Carsten can now concentrat a 100 percent on Evidence
One.
It's
good, 'cause I think, this band can even do more and be better then they
are, whereby the guitar is playing a major part in this as well. But as
you always can argue about matters of taste, some spectators tonight
have doubts about Evidence One. I presume this is due to the fact, that
they are too much concentrated about the appearance of Mr.Tramp and his
White Lion Come Back. In each case, it is or better was another chance
for Carsten ans his boys to tighten his status in the scene. Carry on
little one, you can make it. I'm pretty sure about it.
I'm not so sure about the performance of the reborn White Lion. Most of
all what's up to the first 30 minutes with songs which won't stick in
our ears. And all the audiance is pretty
quiet as well. The reason therefore are the rather not so familar songs
from Mike's latest album which don't go down too well within this first
sequence of the set.
One
thing is for sure. White Lion 2006 have nothing to do with White Lion of
the Eighties, except the voice, which is the same - Mike Tramp, the only
remaining original member from the past.
Just for a brief memory...White Lion then including guitarist Vito
Bratta had several top 10 hits and more then 10 Mill.sold albums between
1984 and 1991. The band played their last gig on sept. 2. 1991 before
they split.
But back to the very day tonight at the Spectrum club. The real concert
feeling and right mood is first coming up, when Tramp's White Lion play
'Broken Heart' - the biggest hit from the Eighties. And a wave of
nostalgic is swapping through the audiance, who is consisting of
aprox. 300 fans. Yes, that's what the people really want to hear here
and some other wellknown songs like for instance 'Wait'.
White
Lions today is a multiculti club. Mike is, as you all know, denish, but
lives in Australia with his wife and daughter. Bassist Claus Langeskov
is also from Denmark and still lives there. Guitarist Jamie Law again is
australien, we all know keyboardist Henning Wanner from Jaded Heart here
in Germany and last but not least Troy Patrick Farrell, who is a real
californian sunnyboy. No question here on stage is a good band playing,
but as I've mentioned it before, it has got nothing to do anymore with
those White Lion I got to know in the past. I haven't got a clue, how
many musiclovers are here tonight, who draw like me
this
comparison. I don't think there are too many. And sometimes I think, it
is maybe better, when you do not know something from before. So you
can't be prejusted. On the other hand, in my opinion, sometimes it's
better not make a reunion with old legends, to keep the memory in a
positive sense. Not every reunion goes so well down, like The Who this
summer or Genesis will probably do next summer for whatever reasons, but
certainly at least five classes higher.
.
So,
well, experiences are there to be made. And I'm pretty sure, Mike Tramp
will give himself the answer for this reunion after a while. The trip to
Augsburg, which is only one hour drive from Munich was certainly worth
while in each way with the result: one concert of many, one good band of
many, not bad at all, but if they are one thing n o t - for sure, then
it is White Lion....
