It's been quite a few years now, that I've seen Uriah Heep on an acoustic trip already. And apparently, they did like this so  much and it went well down at the audiance, that the band decided to do it again. I gotta admit, that Uriah Heep have got a special status here in Munich. And every time they come, they celebrate a sort of homebonus. No matter whenever and how often they do come back, it's always sold out and crowded. So it's no surprise, whenever Uriah Heep do a tour, Munich is on the list of the english cultband.
For this kinda show the promoter always gets special venues with a rather classical atmosphere. A few years ago, it was the Carl Orff venue here in Munich, tonight it's the Deutsche Theater. It's a seated classical theater with a candlelight aura. Seems very nice, but not for us photographers. who want to catch the concert in pictures, without flash and only from the far right or left..

But  first of all, -
here are the Nits.- You don't know 'em, do you?! Okay, this dutch band was founded in 1974, and have produced over 20 albums so far including one worldhit 'In The Dutch Mountains'. And whoever still doesn't know, who this is, then I'd advice you have a quick listen to this special tune. Because then the usual phenomen comes up with a surprised ahhh and ohhh accompanied by the sentence, - yes of course, we know this song, but we didn't know who is playing this tune.

I for my part have experienced the Nits last time in 1984 on an open air festival back in austria live on stage together with Golden Earring. And I do remember fairly. But here they are again, and the trio is also  going for the acoustic way to perform their compley artrock.
But the NIts do not just have 'In The Dutch Mountains' , which is the encore of course, but also other great songs like 'Milkman', 'Key Shop', 'Giant Normal Dwarf', which is accompanied by a screen showing some sumoringer. Or it's 'J.O.S. Day' which is underlined by soccer impressions. However, though the Nits have never reached internatinal superstar status, you can easily descrobe their musi as high quality, a mixture of many differend influences. I for my part would love to see the band playing live in a normal concert soon again.

Uriah Heep for the 75th time, at least for me, or even more... But you can say whatever you want about the Brits. They are always  highclass standard playing live. Whether they are playing a normal concert or the acoustic way, like tonight. Yes, I could imagine, that the guys, now where they are older and wiser and more calm, prefer this way to play to the usual rough Rock'n'Roll Show. They won't confess that anyway., but Mick Box and Co give us a a very selfconfident impression as if this was the non plus ultra. And that's what it is for the audiance.
Question is opening the set, followed by 'Wise Man', 'Circus', 'Heartless Land' and 'Come Back To Me'. First real highpoint is 'Free Me', a hitsingle of Uriah Heep who has been nicklected a bit during the past tours.  But tonight it is played, and it rocks. Bernie Shaw says to the audiance that this here is a rather posh and quiet performance, but noone tells you - not to stand up. He jumps up and storms to the edge of the stage, and the fans get up ans sing along. And this feeling is so strong, that most of the fans here forget to sit down again. First when Bernie is walking back to his seat, it's getting back the normal way for this gig.
And off we go and continue with 'Firefly', 'Logical Progression' followed by 'Pilgrim' and a rather interesting version of 'July Morning'. All this is interrupted inbetween by nice anekdotes told by Mick Box. For instance to the song 'The Wizard', 'Sunrise' and MIck is announcing one song in this way: 'In 1971 there were 3 songs going round the world. One was Whole Lotta Love from Led Zeppelin, one was Smoke On The Water bei Deep Purple. And one was Lady In Black.  This is the next absolute highpoint followed by standing ovations. But the band plays also rare tracks like 'The Dance'- Last but not least, yep of course - the one and only song, evrybody is waiting for at a Heep gig - 'Easy Livin'

T
hat's it, great and we are happy like always at a Uriah Heep concert. Old wine well enjoyed and always with a brilliant taste. What else do you want...
