Yep, the
change of generations has just started, very slow but steady. And when
you watch a concert of a band like this here, you receive the feeling
even more. On the other side the expert is asking him- herself, whether
these heirs of Elvis, Hendrix or Co. will be around next year same time.
It wouldn't be a surprise if not. - here today, gone tomorrow. - The
word 'cultstatus' doesn't exist anymore. And only those heroes from then,
who are still here, have a right to own this title. But what, when they
have died and gone? The Rolling Stones are all in their sixties, same
like Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart, The Who and Bob Dylan. Yes, we still do
love 'em, and when Mick Jagger farts on stage and Roddy becomes a Dad
for the 20th time or whatsoever, we still hail them. All those hereoes
stand above everything else and have put themselves into musichistory
with their tunes.
And now we got those young dudes, who are full of energy. But the
industry doesn't leave 'em the time to develope. They storm the front,
they give everything and over the top, so much, that after about one
hour and ten minutes the exhaustion wins the battle. But over all, the
aprox. same aged fans are grateful and luv them. - The experience of
those artists is still missing. Of course, how shall those boys have got
such a thing beeing just in their early twenties.
The Lost Prophets belong tho this cathegory of
the new generation bands. They try to conquer the battlefield with the
innonence of cheek kids, and look like half grown up students. With their
cute haircuts and designer shirts, the walsh guys, who come from the same
place Ponypridd where Tom Jones was born provide this so called new
generation Rock'n'Roll band, who desperately try to defend their steady
place within the genre. This year saw the release of their third album 'Liberation
Transmition'. According to guitarist Mike Lewis, this is the soundtrack to
the freedom of life. He says: "this record should transport the idea,
that you can free yourself from everything what bothers you, so that you
are able to move one step forwards to reach your goal, and you can be
happy."
The Lost Prophets rock their asses off, that's for sure. Most of all
singer Ian Watkins, who originally was the drummer in the band, finishes
himself off 'till an almost breakdown, jumping into the audiance in the
end. Yes, that's how the fans love it, most of all the female one's, who's
eyes are sparkling like under the christmastree. And Ian enjoys his bath
in the crowd and gets carried away. But like I mentioned before, after
aprox. 70 minutes the show is over, the energy is wasted. Nothing goes
anymore. It's been a rather short but very intensive stint with a whole
lot of power, straight Rock, but also a lack of experience. But we all
were young once upon a time, and there is still time for developement. In
the end it's all up to time and the chance to do so. And time is the only
aspect, which almost doesn't exist anymore.
So what?! Still going back to the old one's? For f... sake, give the youth
a chance, they really deserve it. And if then there are still any requests,
.... I mean, we still got the Stones, who, I'm sure, will still appear on
stage in 10 years time...
