“I am Sean“, - that's all he says with a recognizable american accent in the very beginning. And if we weren't such realistic people, then we'd almost think, that John Lennon had returned from his cloud 7. The similarity is phenomenal. You can realize, that he doesn't like to be compared with his famous father. He is him, and not his dad. But it ain't just this look a like, but also the voice, which as soon starting singing, sounds like Daddy's voice. Close your eyes, and the illusion is almost perfect. But that's not even all.

Sean wears eyeglasses as well, and even they are not round like the famous one's of Daddy, so he still did heritate this one's from him as well, as you can see on the pic of John on the side. And last but not least it's this jacket, looking the same, like the one, the Beatles have worn in the early sixties. It wouldn't surprise me, if this one here is 40 years old and.... But never mind, maybe it's just for nostalgic reasons or kind of a deadringer. Like I mentioned in earlier, Sean doesn't count on his father's fame. He wouldn't play a Beatles or John Lennon song, but his own compositions.- Yeah there's one exeption, But that track was written by Marc Bolan, otherwise his music is quiet, introverted but with a huge aura and expression.
Sean Lennon now is 32 years of age and was born at a time, when the Beatles were pasttense already for a long time. When his father was shot dead, he was just five years young - probably too young to realize the complete tragedy, but old enough to keep many memories about John. Although he won't say a word about him, but only talks about his mum Yoko Ono. He says: 'I don't like water with gas, but my mum loves it' .
That's it.

One thing is for sure, he did heritate the talent from his parents. Sean's music is high quality, his voice soft and sophisticated, but also can be loud and impressful. He's using material of his two albums  „Into The Sun“ von 1998, „Friendly Fire“ von 2006 and the EP 'Half Horse Musician' from 1999 . He says, his biggest influence is Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys, Jimi Hendrix and of course his parents. Apart from the music, he is also a producer, book writer and actor. Sean is a rather small guy, probably due to his mum, and he is a personality for himself. He seems to be a dreamer one minute to explode within the next one into deep emotions.

Unfortunately less spectators tonight, only about 100. But those say thank you to Sean with an euphoric applause. And they are not just oldies remembering the past and John, but also quite a few youngsters, who belong to Seans generation. The artist takes care for som amusement inbetween his songs. He says: Yeah I know, I should be drinking beer here in Munich, but I'm so used to my glass of red wine on stage. I'll have one aftershow - I promise'. He laughs and takes a deep nip. And he enjoys his cigarette up there, mentioning that this would be an impossibility in NY. That's why he enjoys it even more. Sean is  accompanied by a backingband who consists of two canadians on drum and bass, an american guitarist and a female japanese keyboard player, who is actually the only one, speaking fluently german due to  a year studying over here. Fact is, if you see Sean and her standing beside each other, you think, - John and Yoko are standing there. Whether those two are a couple or not, - I really don't know. The set lasts one and a half hour with one encoure. And afterwards Sean is coming out the backstage area to sign the records of some patient fans.

Over all this here is a small but fine concerts and it  has proved, that Sean really trys to leave the shade of his parents behind. He wants to be an individual, and artist for himself, who earns his own success or not - and nothing else. Only this huge similarity to his dad will follow him for the rest of his life I guess and will always connect him with John Lennon.

PS.: Apparently his half brother Julian is in town as well, but unfortunately he wouldn't go on stage to play with Sean. Shame... this would have been the dot on the i - as we say so.....
