...and they do have nothing in common with actor Steve McQueen, don't worry. But whether these girls have adopted the name of the already past away Hollywood superstar, I really don't know. The only ting they have in common is the fact, that every good thing comes from abo..... sorry, I mean, from England, in this case to get it right, from Brighton on sea at the south coast of Great Britain. Brighton a town, which is well known for it's pleasure pier on the beach.
McQueen - that is:
Leah Duors (Voc), Hayley Cramer (Drums), Cat The Casanova (Git) und Gina Collins (Bass). Four girls who went out to conquer the world of Heavy Metal, a still mainly men dominated genre. They wanna prove, that women are also able to rock everything down what meets their way. And every man's heart gets outta rhythm and this not just because of the girl's pretty look. This group around blonde frontwoman Leah takes the world by storm, and for the first time in Germany.
2003 McQueen was formed by those women and little later signed by british independend label Demolition Records. They supported Juliette & The Likcs and played with the Foo Fighters, just to name a few. And they played their asses off to receive the neccessary reputation. And they are getting there, not only because of the fact, that they are a pure female rockgroup, which doesn't happen too often in this business.
.

Jan. 22., just a few weeks ago, saw the release of their debutalbum 'Break The Silence'. And McQueen started their first clubtour. And now they are here. By the way, recently they played in HO Chi Minh City at the so called Unite Festival, and the resonance must have been huge, as you can check out here.
Okay the german fans are not that enthusiastic, but this might be the german mentality who go for: 'what the farmer doesn't know, he doesn't eat' - as we say so over here. Here in Munich there's another fact keepin people away. First of all there is a popular soccer match on TV at the same time but also a another artist playing in town. And apparently the local press have prefered that one to our girls here. But in the end, about 100 rockmusic fans (mainly male of course) have gathered here to check this all female band out.

And the spectators are realley getting, what I did discribe already above. Hard Rock'n'Roll performed with a huge power. Jes... most of all drummer Heyley Cramer impressed me with her endless seeming energy. No kiddin', but I haven't seen a woman often yet, who plays the drums with such a strenght and brutality, much harder than some of her male collegues do. And she ain't no big girl but rather slim. The movements of singer Leah rather remind me a bit about Marilyn Manson on stage. She reflects a mixture of Sex meeds Sado-flair and Girlie image, showing no mercy. She tells the fans to have one more drink and pushes the kids up to the limit. The setlist incudes mainly the new album, not too much yet, and after sixtie minutes the show is over. Unfortunately a bit short this hell's kitchen here, but I can understand, after so much power and the body exhaustion is just too much to continue. It's a little miracle anyway, that they pulled the thing through nonstop on the same upper level energy without showing any weakness.
The result of this evening is the fact, that we still have to get used to their music a bit, it's well done but nothing extraordinary, but thanks to the energetic performance, the visual aspect and the pleasure vibe  it's  solid and  amusing entertainment with a  great fun aspect. I wish the girls good luck for the future and success to survive in this jungle of mainly male artists. Off we go - Women power rules - Same right for everybody. :-))) Hope to see you soon again.
