Yep, the knot
went off, underlined and multiplicated. I mean the double cancellation of
Manowar's tour, which cared for some anger at the fans. But in the end it
has shot a goal. And the venue is crowded. It's not sold out at the
Olympic hall here in Munich, but getting about 10.000 freaks in here is
pretty respectable for a Heavy Metal band like this. Even I have to
confess this. And I got some problems with this band as you maybe know. Okay, now they are here the heirs of Odin, and we are waiting for the echo and the smoke. The expectations are set very high, and don't you dare not to fullfill it. Otherwise we are gonna make mixed meat of this lot. The Walhalla is opening at 7 p.m. and Merlins magic stick gets out a band named Holy Hell. The focus is put on the frontwoman, who is an almost Alana Myles look a like, who is trying to catch the attention of all those Manowar fans. Yes, she can manage, at least, when in the middle of the set a familiar voice is joining in for the nice duett with the pretty singer. And the voice belongs to none other than Manowar singer Eric Adams. I don't think, I gotta tell ya anything about him, I presume. And at this point, even the most sleepy freaks wake up . Yes the bill goes off. And every headbanger is well off longing for another beer to be fit for more to come. First question: are the second lot now calles Rhapsody, or Rhapsody of Fire those longhaired rockers from the country where the lemons come from. Probably the official change of the name is only for the printed media or whatsoever. Because here on stage, these italiens call themselves only Rhapsody like always. And they take the title seriously with a whole lot of bombast.... And they honestly
live their music like the italien temperament allowes it. But you
can certainly overdo it and less would be more in this case. They wanna
give the scenery a certain touch with female visuality, But this beauty of
the night stays in the background of Rhapsody's long haired beauty. And
here they are, the gods of True Metals. Halleluja, some of the
Hardcore fans spread a tear after such a long time of abstinence. Odin is
opening his doors, and Manowar storm the front, or better - they appear.
The intro is like always 'manowar'. During this song we photographers are
allowed to catch the scenery in our cameras. Not too much, to be honest,
but first of all, the gods are stretching this first track for quite a bit,
and second we do get another chance at the very end of the gig, not
knowing yet - why this rather pecular rules are set. But I have to tell Mr.Adams a compliment at the same time. Because to be honest, without his incredible voice, the whole band would have not got half the value they got from the musical aspect. He's the focus and the magic comes and goes with him. For the other bit, the macho image care bassist Joey DeMajo is responsible, who keeps himself in the back tonight. We already ask ourselves, whether he doesn't allow himself to talk too much during the show - like he usually does. Because normally he likes to entertain the fans with many stories inbetween the songs. Not so tonight, where he only finds some words once during a musical break to defend the image. He gets up a male fan playing the guitar with the band, and two metal brides are comiing on stage to underline the DeMajo ego. And you can watch it even in a big size on the screen. And don't forget the countless rockets made out of beer beakers which are hitting the stage, and not only this but also some heads in the audiance. Manowar work themselves
through their complete repertoire, whereby the even nicklect the new piece
'Gods Of War' a bit. Some fans complain, that the band plays to many
unknown songs and not the blockbusters. And last but not least
the secret of Loch Ness,... oh sorry, the secret of our photocal
regulation gets liftes, which is without doubt the hottest shoot I've ever
done in my life. Long live the clichee, a viking ship including some sword
swinging knights and a burning stage, which almost enlightens our butts. For me personally this Metal-Sex-Harley aund Muscle Philosophie of Manowar is still not my cup of tea, but at least the very last look into the camera belongs to me. And in this case I know exactly why..... :-))) |
