The scotish highlads say hello again with all it's beauty, though it's a little wrinkly yet, at least what's up to Dan McCafferty's vision. Got me...?!
At least the scots Nazareth are something what you call an institution, thanks to more than 40 years of Rock'n'Roll . Every now and then the highlanders also pop around Munich for a little stint. And the fact, that they have not been forgotten in the meantime, some 500 fans prove by beeing here tonight. The average age is 40 something, but inbetween you also find some early 20s, probably inspired by their parents for rockmusic of the seventies. The elderly of us rather receiving some nostalgic moments.

But first of all a new band from Munich named „
Xing“  (say Crossing) start of the set, who are somehow happy to have got the possibillity to present themselves to a larger audiance.

They are definately one generation younger than the stars tongiht, but  they are trying to present their music with much enthusiam to all those Nazareth fans. The motivation is huge to show themselves from their best side. And the audiance pays a lot attention.
But there is also some scepsis, because Xing's music is, - how shall I say....?.... rather unusual. And over all you can feel some kind of insecurity, probably due to a lack of live playing opportunities. But what not is can still be, as we say so. So please go out and play your asses off and we will see a little later again.

Nazareth take everything easy. The ghost of Canterville gives his blessing and foggy atmosphere transfers all the great hits like  Razamanaz, This Flight Tonight oder Love Hurts, those greatest classic tunes of the band. Whereby once again I will admit, that 'Love Hurts' had been a huge hit for the band, but is no original tune at al. And I bet, that not even two fans in here know, where this piece of music really comes from. It was composed by Boudleaux and Felice Bryant, an american couple, who got known in the end of the fifties early sixties,  writing a lot of Country- and Rock'n'Roll music for other artists. In 1960 the Everly Brothers first recorded 'Love Hurts', later on in the sixties Roy Orbison had a try. But first Jim Capaldi, who we all know from Traffic, had a hitsingle with his version. You find it on his 1975 album „Short Cut Draw Blood“. It went into the british charts on pos.4. - The adoption of Nazareth was the latest one.
That's to your general musical knowledge.

Fact is, since I've seen the band last time playing live here, which is about 2 years ago, they lost a bit of their drive and motivation. At least tonight they seem a bit tired. Maybe it's only because of a too long touring schedule or just a bad day. Also the comments inbetween the songs, for example the announcement of a 120 year old song , he did also 3 days ago at another occassion. At least some people said, who were there and who are here again.
At least the good old scotch whiskey is kept for aftershow, and the show goes on without any awkward interruption (so happened in the past) .

Nazareth have once again delivered a routiniered show, not smashing brilliant, but still average solid. Apart from a guitarist dressed in a Slayer t-shirt and showing constantly  the heavy metal finger sign, who could be easily McCafferty's son, but what is actually important - he is a great musician.
Over all it has been Nazareth like always to refresh our grey nostalgic cells. Because let's be honest, whatever new music the scots create in the future, - in the end everybody only wants to hear the all time classic smash hits. The fog is disappearing, the, for 2 minutes used backpipe goes back in the big box, and Nessi says bye bye 'till the next Highland party. - And now a good decent Scotch on the rocks - cheers.....
