This italien musician who named himself after a sugarcube is already an longterm institution in italy and also in Germany. The 52 year old, who's real name is Adelmo Fornaciari, started his carriere in 1970. But it took another 13 years 'till his first album 'Un Po Di Zucchero'- In 1991 he shot to fame with the hitsingle 'Senza Una Donna' - a duet together with Paul Young. His 2004 album 'Zu & CO includes more cooperation with Miles Davis, Paul Young, Sheryl Crow, Dolores O'Riordan (The Cranberries), B. B. King, John Lee Hooker, Brian May and Sting, and sold some million times in the whole world. He also appeared at the Live 8 benefit concert series in Rome in 2005.
Zucchero always went for the commercial softrock with a touch of Blues and Gospel and some slight italien style. And he is currently on tour in Germany, still with his 2006 album 'Fly'. On may 04. the brandnew single 'Un Kilo' came out and sold one million times. Enough for Zucchero to play Munich's biggest venue the Olympic hall.

The suportslot comes from german newcomer talent Joanna Zimmer, who started her carriere past year with the song I Believe (Give A Little Bit…)“ -
'Bringing Down the Moon is the second album now, for the blind singer. It's her voice which is so remarcable.
Unfortunately stage time ain't chosen very luckily for Joanna, because when she enters the stage the living room seems still lost. In fact, I've never seen that place so empty. But well maybe that's only because of this early start. It's just 7.30 p.m. Jes, that's truly two pics worth while, including a barriere as strong as expecting a 12.000 crazy teenie gig.

So however, Joanna is good indeed with her songs 'I Believe' and What You Give, Is What You Got’etc. and uses the chance to introduce herself to a broughter audiance.

My fears, there won't come any more people at the headliner's performance is fortunately wrong. At the time Zucchero goes on, the seated auditorium is well filled. But these people won't stay at the spots and storm the front. Beeing pushed back from the audiance it takes exactly the length of one song, and they are back again. And there's nothing anymore the guards could do about it. Visitors in the frontrows who have paid a fortune for their tickets are pretty much annoyed having all those going crazy fans in front of them now. The result is a lot of anger and some guests leave the place charging back the entry fee.

Zucchero doesn't realize the circumstances in the audiance and starts his set sitting on an imaginary thrown. Not very nice for us photographers, who get pushed and pulled by those fans, who couldn't stay on their seats. And as soon as we have to stop taking pics after three songs, Zucchero gets up from his chair and comes to the front. Alrighty, I guess that's fate. The program once again is a best of.... of Zuccheros carriere, consisting of Va Pensiero’ and ‚Occhi’ or ‚Miserere’ and of course ‚Senza una donna’.

Inbetween Zucchero sits on the piano for a change. One thing is for sure, although this artist goes away from the usual italien soapy pop style, he can't deny his roots. And that's not only because of his mother language he uses as well as english in his songs. Zucchero names himself a rocker, but in the end his music is commerical sound for a bank director as well as a secretary or a housewife. With his smudge look he might express those just menioned one's, but apart from that, nothing special really....
