... and phoenix rose up from the ashes and spread his blessings over 50.000 souls, who came to check out their heroes, or should I  better say - celebrate.
Going for the slogan - the come, see and win. With Genesis we got another rocklegend in the line of all those reunions within the past two years. Okay, reunion is maybe the wrong word, because like the Who or the Police, also Genesis never really split. All those bands have just been put on ice for a while, always with an open eye, maybe to be back again one day.
The reasons for the come back of Genesis ain't surely financial ones. Because one thing is for sure, - that every musician is a millionere yet. Peter Gabriel has been asked to join as well. But he decided to concentrate on his solocarriere furthermore. And that one is more than just successful, as we all know. But at least Gabriel kept an option open for maybe joing the other guys now and then for a stint.

However here in Munich we got the famous trio of the second and more successful Genesis era, who is Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks.  Successful what's up to chart positions, sale figures. But we don't have to argue about the first Peter Gabriel era, which was definately morre sophisticated. The average guy prefers the simple popsongs with a sing along bonus like Phil Collins always used to produce. For music pieces like ‚Supper’s Ready’ , ‚Selling England By The Pound’ or ‚The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway’ you need more intellectual understanding. And many of us do not owe this. So let's stick to ‚Land Of Confusion’ and ‚Invisible Touch’. Because these tunes Mum, Dad, Granddad and grandson know for sure. The sales talk for themselves. and with aprox 159 Mill. worldwide sold records, Genesis belong to the 30 bands with the most record sales.

Oh, yes of course, there had been this inbetweenie with Ray Wilson on vocals and the album 'Congo' which wasn't that bad at all. But this didn't have to do a lot with Genesis. And the thing went down the drain. After that, a few Best of's .... came along and went off again, 'till... Phil Collins agreed to take the leading part on again in the group.
And here we go again....
At least someone the brought back from the past to the present. And that one is drummer Chester Thompson, who nowadays mainly teaches drum playing at the Belmont University in Nashville, Tennesee. Now and then he does a solorecord as well.

And last but not least there is  Daryl Stuermer (Git./Bass) who works with Phil Collins for a long time.
At strike 8.15. PM the set starts on a spectacular stage and some 50.000 people in the pooring rain. The poor one's are we Photographers, who strangle a lot to get some decent pictures, but try not to let our cameras get to wet.

The stage is high, and we are only allowed to take pics from the far left thanks to local conditions. It's not easy at all, but we're getting to it.
As great as the stage looks like and as much as the limelights are, so average and simple does the band look like. Almost not recocnizable is the right description. And this here is the true example for the slogan - the tune makes the music and the atmosphere. Phil Collins still is the popular focus, who starts the set behind a second drumkit with the instrumental 'Duke. After that he storms to the front for 'turn It On Again'.

He says his welcome to the audiance in german. And yes it goes down very well on the audiance and they thank him with a huge applause. But I must admit, that his german knowledge is rather low, when you think, he did have a relationship with a swiss woman for quite a few years. But that's not important for this show here. It's more the typical english humour which puts out a special kind of charming aura. It helps to increase his popularity, that's for sure.
One hitsingle follows after the next one. It stopped to rainand everybody is dancing along to all those wellknown pieces (view setlist like always) But everything goes well behaved, and the security hasn't got a lot of work with the fans.

Getting an almost 3 hours show, everybody is well served with an average acoustical sound, a glamouros visuel aspect, a rather simple looking band and tons of popular music. Indeed it is a success in every way. And apart from individual tastes of music which rather goes to the Gabriel era songs in my case, and is not important for tonight. This here is definately a 100% well done show.
