Yiippiiehhh I've dun' it... I am actually on the spot by time to experience all chapters of the Heavy Metal Opera in three parts. . Yeah I confess, it wasn't quite up to me, but thanks to Metal Hammer magazine in the sense of taking pics tonight, but I am here at 7.30 p.m. - that what counts....

Also another reason is the fact, that none of these participents here tonight are to neclect. Even I dig this after only 5 minutes - "The Sorrow - live". Another nice surprise, which I have to mention here, is a rare photopit, - very helpful for us photographers. Exspecially at the headliner's set it is proved, that this pit was truly necessary.
Despite of the current running Oktoberfest it is once again almost sold out, like two days before at Paradise Lost's gig - same place. Which means aprox. 700 fans have gathered here, - just to repeat myself.
Anyway, I start the slogan tonight wih a - 'long live patriotism', because the first band 'the Sorrow' do come from Austria like me, just from another part of the Country.

To make it quick, these guys have put out their debutalbum 'Blessings From A Blackened Sky', they appeared in Wacken and now they are trying to increase their popularity with this supportslot of Devil Driver. - At least the Sorrow got already across the border of Austria as well as Belphegor and Pungent Stench. And that's a lot for artists from this small country - congratulation. The Sorrow are: Andi (Git) - Tobi (ass) - Dominik (Drums) – und Mätze (Voc. & Git.) In fact, the singer reminds me strongly on the young Trent Reznor what's up to the visual aspect. And he's got a pretty strong aura to pull every fan's attention. The sparkle is there, and that's unsusual for a very first band. Musically this foursome reminds me strongly on Killswitch Engage. It's nothing new, what The Sorrow are offering, nothing innovative, but it is impressing. And the youthfull enthusiasm and power underlines the performance, and i ask myself , will this band survive within a rather down going musical style.

Second on the spot is 'God Forbid' from New Jersey. A metalband, who is already celebrating their 10th anniversary next year.

What makes this band to something special, is the fact, that all bandmembers exept one are afro-americans, who have included some ethnic elements in their music. The media puts them into the metalcore corner. I myself would rather call their music melodic thrashmetal. Because there is in fact a lot of melodie included.
The result of the past nine years are four albums, one EP and one single. And like many others their songs are telling about destruction, madness and the very last day. Exspecially the current album
"IV: Constitution Of Treason" from 2006 expresses all those things very strongly.
Live on stage the brothers Doc and Dallas Coyle (git.) singer Byron Davis, John Outcalt on bass and Corey Pierce (drums a rather unusal focus.

Also in this case the frontman reminds me strongly on somebody else, though this chocolate boys own a little bigger silhouette. But it doesn't spoil his voice.Enrico Caruso would probably exchange his tenor to a bass, if he could listen to this songs of american hardcore philosophy from up in heaven.
And we got this guitar on the very right, viewed from the audiance. He is the living prove, that also within thrashmetal there is some attractivity next to musical talents, if you know what I mean. Oh la la, at least we women  got something to look at as well. Although you do not get this species at that kind of concerts very often. Of course, - this is not soapy melodicrock with it's blonde curly dressmen, who give the ladies in the audiance some special looks, to increase their hopes for a maybe aftershow adventure. Good luck, these times have gonne. - So here we rather go for a black haired curly metalhead, who is extraordinary sexy and is, like I said before, the living prove for beauty in thrashmetal... :-)))))

Brothers in Arms - in the truest sense of the word - with a sexy aura

Okay, okay, sorry for this comments. I'm only a woman myself, who does look at things and not just listen. Like we say: the eye eats as well.
To make it quick, 'God Forbid' are great and they do get a huge response. Energy goes hand in hand with a tight line, which gets stuck in our ears immidiately.
I hope, these guys will come back sooner or later to perform again  - next time maybe as the headliner of another package.

At least at this point, you can realize, that the early start tonight has been a big advantage. Because the last Participent of this Thras-Marathon is entering the stage not like usully at 11.15 p.m. but already around 9.30. And we are still fit and ready for the final attack, like we say so.

And yes, 'Devil Driver' keep what their name promises. Holy sh.... and all hurricans within this galaxy. Noone is to stop here in this madhouse anymore. Got thank you for this photopit tonight. Although that one doesn't protect me from flying  objects full with beer, which are landing on my back and hat, but fortunately not on my camera. I reach a new time limit what's up to the photocall just to get outta this dangerous place. Otherwise my life insurance would have quit probably.

Okidok, Devil Driver don't exist that long like 'God Forbid', - just four years yet, when Dez Fafara of Coal Chamber founded his new baby in 2003. He himself says, he doesn't want to be put in a certain draw musically, and the description thrashmetal is just enough. The third album has just arrived this summer and is entitled :The Last Kind Words'. - But what gave these guys the lucky goal was the goal back in the beginning of their story, that they put one of their songs 'Swinging The Dead' on the soundtrack of the movie 'Freddy vs. Jason', even before the put out the debutalbum back then. Bingo! And Devil Driver got themselves their status within the genre. To get it right, - Devil Driver is  mainly Dez Fafara, and Dez Fafara is Devil Driver, not more and no less. Besides that there are Mike Spreitzer and Jeff kendrick on guitars, Jon Miller on bass and John Boecklin on drums. But the average tune is mainly given by the little frontman - Dez.

The jungledance is increasing in here and the security work hard, while Dez has nothing else to do, then pushing the kids even more up and up and round and round. At some point nothing matters anymore. And the guardian angels just try to get out the flying bodies from the pit and throw 'em back into the crowd again. It's steaming in jungle like after a monsun, and the temperatur has risen up above the boiling level. Somehow this situation reminds me strongly at the concert of the Exploited about 2 years ago. Only then there was no photopit and the only way out was getting in the back. Tonight at least it is possible to watch the scenery from the far right  in the front corner.

Yes, the bandname stands for what they are. Actually Devil Driver really stands for those things witches use to get the devil outta people, a sort of exorcism. And that's what Dez does with all his strenght. A zynical mean expression goes hand in hand with the workout of frustration and pain and all other sort of problems. The whole thing rapped up in a non compromising thunderstorm of sound, which leaves a longlasting memory for sure. Inbetween Dez puts up such a charming smile, that we could get the impression, he's inviting us for a little seniors coffee meeting. But he certainly doesn't and heats the Kids even more up. A hell fire is a small candlelight compared with that.

’Wish you a happy Oktoberfest’ is the last hello and despite all those calls for one more song the ofen is dead after one encore, what's up to tonight.
I for my part rather pressume the end of this set has been set by the local organisation, not by the band.
One thing's for sure, everybody in here got enough and is satisfied what's up to thrash, Death,-Groove,- or whatever so what metal - who cares. Everybody luved it, and that's the most important thing. Yep, they did without doubt with 1000 centogrades and a 150% amen.

this shot had to be done  in the end. :-)))))
