noone ever is gonna tell me again, that the annual Octoberfest and
Sunshine keeps people away from concert venues. This excuse is often
used, when there is emptiness at concerts during this time. But the prove
that this is not always the case we do get tonight at the sold out
Within Temptation gig at the Tonhalle.
Within 11 years of their existence, the dutch band has established
themselves pretty well. And finally the got rid ot this silly reputation
of beeing a copy of Nightwish. Such a thing is quickly said, when two
groups have a female singer with a classical voice.
On this tour, whereby the german dates had been postboned from March to
now, I see Within Temptation for the second time live on stage. But at
least Sina and I have met up with singer Sharon Den Adel und guitarist
Ruud Jolie in march - for a few words concerning the present
release 'The Heart Of Everything'.

Anyway, a few months have passed inbetween, until pretty Sharon and the
boys finally found their way to Munich. Beeing postboned doesn't mean,
it's off the shore.
Starting off with Delain, the Baby of Martijn Westerholt, the little
brother of Robert, the founder of Within Temptation. Martijn originally
was also in his brothers band, but had quite because of health reasons.
In 2002 he was fit enough again to found his own band named Delain, -
also with a female singer, also following the same path. - Everything is
sort of family matters. And why not following this strategy, which has
been so successful for the mothership and still is. But whatever did not
happen yet for Delain, still can be one day. True fans of the Headliner
luv' em as well. But what do I tell you out there. You know that anyway.

A little more difficult it gets with number 2 on the bill here, who is
69 Eyes. They are falling out of this frame a bit with their sleazy
darkrock and the visual different look. The finnish rockers are going
since 1990 - unbelievable. But first withing the last few years they
received the resonance, they were running after for so long.
The whole image of this band is dominated by the singer Jyrki 69 (Jyrki Pekka Emil
Linnankivi), who's aura drives all the attention. Sounds pretty chichee'. But
that's what it is. The show of 69 Eyes is done by Jyrki 69 and Jussi 69
(Jussi Heikki Tapio Vuori), who is the drummer, beating up his snare, as if he
wants to win olympic gold. Jes... poor drumkit. But you can realize very
well, that the audiance here is most of all a Within Temptation audiance.
Sharon comes, waves, sings and wins a 100%...
And
the fans immidiately stand on their heads. It's so nice to watch all
this devotion. And the dutch beauty gives them all this luv back with
double echo.And one thing's for sure. Within Temptation has nothing
really to do with Nightwish thanks god.
I gotta look up to this girl, who makes such an effort to keep her voice
on this level for 90 minutes. A brilliant voice. - There's only one
little disadvantage about it. Because of this ever ongoing certain level,
the music sounds very similar, not the same but somehow a bit monotone.
I for my part miss a little the breaks, the up's and down's and edges.
But I don't wanna bi too picky. Because over all it is a great show, no
doubt about it. Everything fits in, hte mood, the performance and the
energy. And all those fans here luv 'em for that.
Robert Westerholt,
guitarist and father of Sharons daughter keeps the level with
Ruud Jolie in the middle underneath, who dominates the leads and a
certain look in his eyes :-))))

In the end I've gotta say, that despite major soundproblems, which are over
played by Sharons overwhelming charme, this evening is once again a
180%succees - for the band and for the 2.500 kids in here...
So, thanks to the close neighbourhood in which we live, the hope is high to
see you all soon again......
