For other band it a brand is
their logo or a deadringer. For New Model Army it's definately the
beautiful gap next to a gold tooth in Justin Sullivans mouth. To be honest,
Justing wouldn't be Justing, and New Model Army wouldn't be New Model Army
without this sexy gap. Yes of course it's a matter of taste. But however...
it surely belongs to it. For 27 years this band is going now, the band
with the most line up changes ever. And yes, they have reached some kind
of cultstatus, although according to Justin, the band had their 15 minutes
in th early eighties, and that was it. But even 15 minutes can have a
longlasting echo.
I remember to have seen New Model Army in the eighties in London live. And
last time I checked them out, they did a support slot for some german
middleage-Rockband. It didn't go down too well of course. Because NMA
music and the tunes of this german band has nothing in common. And those
3.000 fans then, came for the middle age Headliner. You could realise,
that the chemistry wasn't right. But tonight everything is just perfect.
An almost sold out Muffathalle with old and new NMA fans. To be honest, I
wouldn't have thought, that it gets so crowded. Respect!
Support comes from a new band named Demander, an indierockband from New
York. The line up is rather unusal, which consists of guitarist
Jared, a female drummer Sivian and the bassist and frontwoman Karen. The
trio is going now for 3 years and just released their second album: 'The
Unkindness Of Ravens'.
Pretty interesting indeed, the threesome
presents der individual touch of independence. And yes, Demander got som
potential, that's for sure. Most of all guitarist Jared is the one, who
draws the attention of the audiance what's up to musicianship. For al male
fans, also singer Karen makes a interesting visual appearance. The only
disadvantage is her - not fully developed voice, which sounds rather thin.
That's why this stint leaves only an average impression on me.

New Model Army are doing quite easy, though the focus is set on the new
album 'High'. It is the 10. studioalbum in the history of the band. And
though the fans seem to know every single song and sing along with
it.
I cant describe it any other way, but Justin is the winner here. He is
accompanied by Marshall Gill on guitar, Peter Nice (Nelson) on bass, Dean
White on keyboard and Michael Dean on drums Although New Model Army have
always been known as a political band, it doesn't show too much during
this show, thanks god.
New album whatsoever.... in the end we get all the wellknown tunes (view
setlist) and every fan is satisfied. Me too, though I've never really been
a fan of NMA.
