I have mentioned it quite often before, and I do it here again...... I'm always happy again, when I go and check out a band playing, who I've never seen before live on stage. Most probably, because most of all these artists around, I've seen more than just twice over the years. And to be honest none of them has ever really changed his personal stragegy. Only the mood of the day, could possibly make a set better or worth.

I have missed the Newcomer Lovex from Finland once before, about one year ago at the Backstage Club due to other duties on that day.Not so tonight, there the guys are here in Munich for the second time, this time at the Metropolis venue. Oh by the way, in their homeland Finland they ain't no newcomers anymore, 'cause they are going on now for about 3 years and try hard to establish themselves. Their releases so far are:
2005 - Bleeding (VÖ 10.08.2005 nur in Finnland)
2006 - Guardian Angel (VÖ 01.02.2006 in Finnland,VÖ 05.01.2007 in Deutschland)
2006 - Die A Little More (VÖ 09.08.2006 nur in Finnland)
2006 - Remorse (VÖ 09.08.2006 nur in Finnland)
2007 - Anyone, Anymore / Wild and Violent (VÖ 21.02.2007 in Finnland und…..
This latest record has now been released in Germany as well. Though this CD seems to have drowned a bit within the jungle of all those countless other releases, because the music of Lovex is a very commercial rock. A little hardrock, a little alternative influences and a bit sentimental melodicrock is included in this mixture. I would say, it's not bad at all, but not a real blockbuster.
However I belong to those people, who get influenced only by a CD. First when I see a band playing live, then I judge them. And this is the case tonight.

Just to mention it first of all, the audiance ain't very big tonight, and it includes aprox. 100 girls aged between 16 and 25 years young and maye 5 boys same age. I get almost an impression that this here is sort of a Teenie-Boyband. And it's not reached out too far, because all bandmembers are also aged below 30, and nice looking what's up to the visual aspect.

But let's start from the beginning..... with the supportacts named 'Manzana' also from Finland, starting at strike 9 p.m. with their very pretty and photogenic frontwoman Piritta.

And yes, she can also sing and puts out a very special kind of life pleasure, which jumps over on to the audiance, and even all these girlies, who are actually only waiting for their heroes Lovex, clap their hands and sing along with her. 'Manzana' do actually exist longer than the headliner. But they are a bit behind in conquering the the rest of the world. They have brought along their first longplayer ‘Nothing As Whole As A Broken Heart’. Their rockmusic is suitable to sing along with as well.

And yes, the impression, this next Generation Rock'n'Roll Band from Finland is leaving behind ain't that bad. With a bit more live experience and a huge portion of luck, Manzana could collect quite a few more goals in the future.

One hour later, their collegues Lovex start their show with a screaming welcome from all those female fans in here. Noise level critical. And you can realize immidiately that the boys do enjoy this obvious Luv. It's mainly frontman Theon (Torsti Mäkinen) who is the fave by the girls And he increases the affection by taking off his shirt during the gig, showing his bare chest and his sexy aura.

His pants are only hold by a belt, otherwise they'd probably slip down, showing off, what all the girlies would luv to see.... :-)))
But these boys do have a certain routine already how to treat their fans. Musically, like described before, they also go a rather straight way, without corners and edges. This is rockmusic, sometimes harder, sometimes softer, but nothing really new. It's all been here before.

The conversation with Theon can be found hier

Although I've got to say, that they do quite well for their young age and act pretty professional. And I always think, let's be glad, that we got young bands like that one within the genre, no matter how long they will be going on. Because as we all know, it ain't easy within this fastliving music landscape, where everything is about money.
Good luck anyway, and maybe Lovex will be receiving the innovative spirit one day. So that noone  anymore asks: "who the hell is Lovex?"
