And off we go again to the strypey T-Shirt contest. I realize once again, that this fashionable Haute Couture Accessoire is very popular within the Rock'n'Roll circles. And possessiong the right shape as well it becomes a real focus. Al Capone gave his hat and ready steady go is the H-Blockx Look 2007.
It's a fact, that if I got 10 Euros for each gig I've seen of this band, I could easily spend a comfi holiday on Hawaii. No surprise though, as those bros go on now for 17 years and they are almost kinda institution within the cross over draw in Germany. Yes, of course times are changing and trends as well. That's why the popularity of the H-Blockx is a up and down. The present doesn't allow a constant existence anymore, does it?! Although Henning Wehland and Co are still alive and kicking, right now with their new album 'Open Letter To A Friend'. and this with a lots of energy in the old bones. The refreshing has just started out with the stripey T-Shirt and a still youthful attitude.

Starting off with 'One Fine Day' from Hamburg, who introduce their second studioalbum 'Damn Right'. You can easily name those guys the continuation of the H-Blockx. No surprise, as the titlesong is a duett of singer Marten Pulmer and the H-Blockx frontman Henning.

These guy are going now since 1997, and since their appearance at this year's Rock am Ring/Park and Hurricane Festivale, some more kids know who I'm talking of.
They are doing pretty well. And their melodies are just made for singing along with. Apart from Pulmer, there is guitarist Hendrik Burkhard, Roman Rossbach also on guitar, bassist Marco Köhrsen and drummer Erik-Mac Essig. One Fine Day already went abroad as well with their music, exspecially to Japan. And it went down very well. Yep, I can imagine, that this band one day gets also a big name in the musicbiz with lots more of live experience and a little luck.

Still playing almost in the original line up, or should I say - again - the H-Blockx are storming the stage. And our little darling Henning immidiately reminds us about the past and how they got famous within the teenie magazine Bravo, where they were voted best band with the song 'Move' once upon a time in the past. But, however, that's how the shot to fame, so thanks to the readers of Bravo mag.

However, one thing is for sure - 'Move' is still a great song, which goes well down and timeless even in 2007. The new record 'Open Letter To A Friend' is dominating the setlist tonight with 8 songs. But it is mixed up so well done - old and new stuff, that the average recognition is still there again and again and again.
The show ain't that explosive anymore, what it used to be, musically as well as physically. But okay.... we all don't get younger, do we?!  The almost acrobatic jumps have exchanged for a slower foxtrott. Therefore Al Capones hat is dancing a Paso Doble and Henning get the dolls a spinning wheel dancing. It's wild, so wild, that I jump back immidiately for at least 5 steps. - Another melody we all know is 'Celebrate Youth', - thanks to Rick Springfield. And the second cover - yep of course - 'Ring Of Fire' from Johnny Cash (bless him up there) (or better penned by June Carter Cash for her husband) I often ask myself why it's exspecially this song so many artists like to cover. - Yes and of course we get 'Step Back' and 'How Do You Feel'. Without those, a H_Blockx Gig  wouldn't be a H-Blockx gig. And I have to give Henning that much, - he forces all kids on their knees, even the security. (look at the background image)

The new Prototyp of the H-Blockx Fans :-)))

The stripey t-shirt has been exchanged at the encore for.... yeah of course - for another stripey one... what else?!
However, the general impression is once again a good one, although in a smaller frame with only about 800 guests. And the Open Letter has received a multiple echo. H-Blockx are H-Blockx including the smartest tourmanager in Germany.
