Yeeessss, Women power in 2007 and within the next century of Rock'n'Roll with all the energy, girls are able. And i can asure you once again, these girls from Sunny California have truly got this power. It doesn't need a long decicion to come here again to check 'em out. The clu is rather smal and normally quite comfi. But when it's too crowded, and the temperatur raises up to 100 degrees and more including to much smoke, then it can quickly develope into torture. But never mind, that's Rock'n'Roll as well, nothing new nothing extraordinary. Fact is, for me the Donnas are one of the very few real energetic girlsband in rockmusic. Compared to our dear old Doro here in Germany, who still follows the dusty 80s heavy Metal path, dressed up in oldfashion leather and stuts. The Donnas rather go for straight modern american rock, without edges and not too much visual image care - and they go for: - take it easy...
The foursome know each
other since their Highschool times, since 1993, when they formed their
first project 'Screen'. Over the years the girls picked up a lot of
practice and experience and finally the became the Donnas, very much
orientated on the Ramones. Meanwhile the punkrock has gonne for a, like
mentioned before, straight hardrock. They got seven albums out so far
and therefore lots of material for a full show, which lasts fairly 70
minutes. Okay, it's a bit short, I know but 1) the gig has to be
finished untill 11 p.m. because of nightclubbing afterwards. And 2) the
physical action the girls put out is so heavy, that it would be almost
impossible to keep on with it for much longer. And the condition of the
girls ain't bad at all. Donna A pushes the fans up, and exspecially the
one's in the frontrow are kissing the ground more than just once. No
chance to take decent photos from the front. My favorite song ' Who
Invited You' goes down more than well, like all the other tunes -
aggressive, sexy, provoking, very female and just rocking. The titel of
the new album 'Bitchin' just says all. |
