One thing you can see immidiately here. Progrocker don't need Glam and Glitter, no hairspray, no special effects and show, but only a few instruments, a little concentration and one or the other trainers for clothing - to show their talents. The whole things is presented as an advanced acoustic form of rockmusic art. It's for you to just enjoy, for the spoilt one's and the acrobats between us. Progressive rock is literatually nothing else than rockmusic with lots of musical jump overs and breaks with a difficult structure - bombastically served. But I assume as difficult it is to describe this subject, as difficult it is to play....
Tonight we got even three artists of this stylistic, whereby the first bands is a Munich based project, Circus Maximus come from Norway and Symphony X flew over from the USA. And again I'm late, though I don't have a clue why.... Because I'm here by time at 8 p.m.

That's why I get only to check out the last 3 songs of the opener Dreamscape  and I can just catch a few visual impression....

But my generell impression of those 3 songs is not bad at all. Unbelievable, that this lot under the synonym Dream Theater is going now since 1986. And I can easily image, that their way has not been the most easy one over all those years including lots of line up changes. Only guitarist Wolfgang Kerinnis is still there from the very beginning. But it's their frontman's voice pulling my most attention. He manages a high C with a victory smile on his face to polish up the mood in the audiance. Respect, to get such a fan reaction as a supportband is not that usual. But maybe it's also a little bit of a home bonus,  - who knows?!

Second participant Circux Maximus comes from Norway, has a danish management and produces their CDs in Germany.

maybe that's the reason, why singer Michael Erikson speaks so well german. The quintet exists for four years now. And last year the released their second album Isolate’ ,
Also in the club is: guitarist Mats Haugen, bassist Glen Mollen and drummer Lasse Finbraten. They describe themselves as semi progressive metal with outgoing vocal melodies. Yeah... okay, I onyl partly agress with it. But maybe thats more or less a matter of taste.
AOR meets 70s Rock with a little Death Metal. Compared to the opener tonight, they are not doing quite as well, strangely, but still have a solid base. They pull their thing straight through the bone. Only minus are these awful fitting jeans of the frontman. But fortunately that's not the point here.....

The american invasion named Symphony X shoots off again. We have seem them recently in late autumn already here in Munich, supporting Dream Theater. But back then, they had only little time, even less light and energy in front of an audiance, who was totally fixed on the headliner. Tonight this lot here is playing the first role with lots more light, and no restriction. Most of all Russel Allen, with his teddybear mentallity and look which saves him the whole sympathy of the kids down there. He doesn't own such a deadserious aura of a highly concentrated musician with his passion to 100% perfection. No he rather goes for: let's have fun and take it easy and let's prock'n'roll..

And that's what we do here. So we carry Symphony X on a pink velvet pillow.- Since 1994 these guys from New Jersey have released 10 CDs and have established themselves within the genre. The newest chapter 'Paradise Lost' is the sense and the reason for this yet another concert journey here in Europe. Mr. Allen is overwhelmed about all these backcoming love  and says thank you about a dozen times. The question, whether the band should come back or not, is not neccessary.Or the phrase: 'we luv you Germany'.... Of course you love us... there ain't no many other's who appreciate your talents and still love this musical style.

nette Einladung.......

No question, that this band owns a pretty high quality standard - no question about that... What a guitarist Michael Romeo is, and to be honest, he could be easily Yngwie Malmsteens little brother. - Just in the visual aspect of course :-))) Bassist Michael LaPond rather could be a relative of Geezer Butler. But apart from all these unimportant similarities, the functioning and harmony between these musicians is just brilliant.
Noone in the band is the absolute star, but noone of them gets neclected either. Everything is just right even the communication towards the fans and our bavarian beer.
Just these little political hints again could have been left out. (as you all know, I still think - politics belong into politics and not an a concertstage, most of all not in Europe.)
However, cheers, we are in Bavaria tonight and everything we want right now is a great evening with lots of Rock'n'Roll, for f... sake.....

But  back to the action here, you can vote this appearance of Symphony X as a well done job and solid success, and this, - to repeat myself, - on a high standard. I'm deadly sure, that the americans will be back soon. Yep, of course, here they are, your fans and admirers... waiting paciently and buying you the next beer....
