Off we go to another Oldie Revival in the truest sense of the word. Because this band here has reunited in the original line up -
Gary Wright, Mike Harrison and Mike Kellie after more than 30 years. I still dun' know the real reason for this reunion, but probably it was the famous sparkle, which came up at the right time. .
Now the youngsters between us, probably don't know the band - no surprise. They were founded in 1966 by Mike Harrison, and one year later the debut album 'It's All About You'. Countless line up changes and six more records gave Spooky Tooth their history until 1974, when the seperation was final. Their style  was and still is a mixture of Bluesrock with a progressive touch. One of their most well knows songs is 'Better By You,Better Than You', which causes the famous aha-effect, as we call ist. Also knows are the coverversions of the Beatles tune I'm A Walrus'  and the track 'Tobacco Road, a classic, written and recorded first by John D.Loudermilk, and in 1964 it became a big hit for the english group Nashville Teens.

1969

Gary Wright had  a huge solo success with the song 'Dreamweaver' back in the Seventies. And currently he is also a member of the Ringo Starr Allstars Band, while Harrions has his Mike Harrison band going. But it's the magic of Spooky Tooth and the old times, which let's them sparkle again. And good old Germany has always been a very good place for revivals, heroes from the past and nostalgic memories. So why wait..... And yes it works, almost like yesterday.....

Just after 8 p.m. a Munich local act named Siggi Stardust' hits the stage.

This lot is fronted by Hans Pramberg (Git./Voc), Jörg Raabe (Keyb), Jim Fojtek (Bass) and Chris Springet (Drums). Although tonight there is another bass player and the keyboarder is missing out of unknown reasons. but it doesn't spoil the performance really. This threesome does quite well, and it's the singer, who's impressing us most with his versions of classic tunes of 4 decades, giving them an individual touch - (god bless John Fogerty) You can feel, they are doing it with a lot heart and soul.
The de ja vu has just started.....

.... and is shortly after continuing with Spooky Tooth.....

who unfortunately fight with some soundproblems in the very beginning, which ain't their fault of course. The 3 original guys are accompanied by touring bassist Schem Schroek (Ex-Kenny Logins) and Guitar Wonderchild Steve Farris (formerly with Mr.Mister and countless other artists) And these two fitting in here very well.
But of course it's Gary Wright and Mike Harrison playing the frontrole singing and handling the keyboards. Harrison I knew already from his guest appearances with the Hamburg Bluesband. - All these songs take us back on a journey in time - forward to the past. But the music doesn't sound antique at all. Maybe it's the way of performing, I don't know. One pearl follows after the next including of course Tobacco Road and I'm A Walrus. And the second encoure - yep, of course - 'Better BY You, Better Than Me'.

The eyes of the aprox. 200 guests tonight are wett in the end because of nostalgic touches. Although, as I said in the beginning, some of them haven't experienced the first era of the band conciously back then. I didn't either, because when Spooky Tooth did their first album, I was just about 5 years young - too young to Rock'n'Roll. But as we all know music never dies, and at least you never get too old for Rock'n'Roll.

The Oldie De ja vu has gone down well despite the acoustic problems ( shoot the soundmixer to the moon & beyond) and I presume we all enjoyed a nice evening with a high entertainment level, good music and...... yes a tiny sparkle....  (PS: not only what's up to the music :-)))
