What might be the reason, where there are only about 30 fans are showing up here in Munich at a classic traditional Heavy metal show? Actually, there are only 3 reasons for explanations. Either the artist is so unknown, that there is no interest there, or another argument would be, that there is another very popular artist playing the same night in another venue. Or the local premiere league soccerclub FC Bayern is playing a match against FC Cetave in Spain. And therefore most TV screens in this twon run hot. And yes, I am probably right, that the third reason is the right one. And as the spanish teams plays with one man less from the fifth minute onwards, every soccerfan in this town is not getting away from his telly. The result is, that Cage are playing in front of these 30 fans, probably the only ones not beeing into soccer or at least don't like the FC Bayern. - Yeah well, and you can't really tell, that Cage are on a popularity level like Metallica or so.... But on the whole, this event here at the Garage Rockclub does not stand under good star anyway, as we say so. It starts with the poor audiance and continues with the fact, that there is a Apple Computer meeting next door, which needs quietness. Therefore our concert starts with one hour delay at 9 p.m. after the Computer course is finished. Then there are erupting major problems with the sound, and it develops into a nightmare for the supportband. the victim is named Clusterhead, and they do come from Regensburg. Again and again some awful noise spoils the performance of the group and the soundengineer can't manage to get this right. I presume, that these
conditions evolve some irritation and influences the set negatively.
Clusterhead play this classical ordinary (very german) Heavy metal, which
reminds me strongly on the eighties. Jes.... it really is a drag. Let's
put it that way, - I won't criticise them furthermore, because the
conditions doesn't allow it to do an objectiv review. The only critics
I've got left here is on the man on the mixing desk in the back, who just
seem not to be able to cope with it.
You can realize immidiately,
that Cage have got quite some selfconfidence. It goes well down, that
frontman Sean Peck does not do his performance from up there on the stage,
but sings most of his set down inmidst of the fans. He owns a solid aura
and a good voice. There is also Dave Garcia on leadguitar, who seems to
spent the rest of his time in a fitness studio concerning his muscles.
Second lead guitar is handled by Anthony Wayne McGinnis. Mike Giordano is
playing the bass and on drums is Mike Nielsen. Cage are going now for 16
years with their classic Heavy Metal, never beeing influenced by Grunge or
New Metal. The latest CD is entitled 'Hell Destroyer', and the name is
chlichee' like the music.
The soundproblem is desolved, as I mentioned before. And the place is shaking under the solid set of the band. the only real problem is the musical style itselves, which the german fans also call - True Metal. and which ain't that popular in the generell music landscape. And the band, who are not that well known yet. I hope, Cage though take
some good memories back home from their Europe trip, and they will be back
one day. Because let's be honest, if this Heavy Metal still has got a home,
then it's here in Germany. ..... |
