Alrighty, after all those thrashmetal art of the past days, tonight we got traditonal Heavy sound again for a change. Once again at our old Backstage venue, which is well filled but not quite sold out. I guess there are aprox. 450 fans.

Shooting off with opener 'Forever Slave', who actually is the only band tonight, who stilistically steps a bit out of the row with their rather gothic touched timbre.

The attractive frontgirl names herself Lady Angellyca, who also works as a fetish  morde. Acoustically these spanish band sound a lot like Nightwish, whereby they do not reach this level by far away. Guitarist Oswalth is the only one, who actually draws my attention, while the voice of th singer is thinner than weak coffee, as we say so over here. They got two albums out since Forever Slave started out in 2000, and hopefully it won't get much more. One thing is for sure: this girl should rather stick to her modeljob . I bet she's got better chances to establish herself  at this.

Number two are out half gods Firewind from Greece, fronted by the beautiful Apollo... - There ain't much more to say....
is there?

These boys are on their best way, to secure their place in the biz. Because every time I see them playing live on stage, they are doing better and better.
If there weren't those soundful names like the one of Apollo Papathanasio on voc, or Gus G. a.k.a. Kostas Karamitroudis (Git), Petros Christodoylidis (Bass), and Babis „Bob“ Katsionis (keyb), they could be from any country. Only drummer Mark Cross steps a bit outside the row of the cyrillic pronauncations.

Anyway, it's a matter of fact, that Firewind get very well down here in Munich, almost as much as the headliner. Almost everything is right - the sound, the show and the average vibe. The new album 'Premonition' gets introduced. It's a continuation of 'Allgiance' from 2006. Great stuff... and once again very well performed.
And next time we wanna see the heirs of Zeus hopefully doing a headliner show. So take your Achilles heels underneath your arms and come back soon...

Kamelot don't do that easy, to compete with the just mentioned second opener  –

To be honest, if we didn't know it any better, that this los comes from America and has a norwegian singer, then this band could be from Germany as well, because of... how shall I describe it..... ?  - true german metal Double bass beats. Okay, I confess, I'm not a big fan of this style, which is a sort of left over from the 80s. But nevertheless, this kinda bands still have a certain following of fans. Oh actually you could name Kamelot a multi culti band, because there 's  not only a norwegian singer, but also a german keyboard player namd Oliver Palotai. When he gets introduced to the audiance there is quite a bit of response.
And there is this attractive lady in the background taking care for the suitable ambiente. She is much better in singing than the frontwomen of the first opener.
It is actually Kamelots pretty woman who opens up the show by a violin intro dressed up with a mask.

It gets well down followed by a mighty thunderstorm of sounds of the band. One thing surprises me though. These guys up there are dressed up so much and warm, that I start sweating, just looking at them. Because the room temperature ain't the lowest as you can imagine. Including the spotlights on stage, then this band feels probably as hot as they'd participating at a triathlon in the amazonas jungle.  Not a nice imagination, is it?!

But they all seem to be in good conditions. Singer Roy Khan looks pretty with his untypical haircut, which he probably has adapted from his norwegian collegues AHA. The choice of songs is nicely mixed up. And I presume every fan got what he expected. No, apart from my personal - a little different taste of music, this performance is straight and there is nothing to complain about it. Kamelot are playing their joker excellent. And those modern knights of the Arthus ring have once again successfully striked back.
