.
.. the Boogieman from Hell, what he names himself. And in the the sense of the word, this is actually true. Because Michael Katon really is from a place called Hell somewhere near Detroit, Michigan.
But when you hear his music, you rather think of the loneless in Louisiana, a Trucker highway, a Harley Davidson and a Saloon where the Whiskey is home.
What Katon does ain't low down Bluesrock, but loud dirty Boogie Roadhouse Rock'n'Roll. In 1984 he released his first record 'Boogie All Over Your Head' on his own label 'Wild Ass Records'. Since then, he's got another 10 albums out including live recordings. IN 1993 dutch label Provogue signed him and he became a member of the dutch Blues scene. Here in Germany the american hasn't got the value and status he would deserve yet. Shame, 'cause he's a great musician.
It's a fact, this situation tonight is one of these, I could cry. Just about 50 souls have found their way into the Backstage Club to listen to he rough whiskey voice of Michael Katon.

Support comes from the Ron Evans Group, who are going for Blues Rock as well....

Led by german/english musician Ron Evans, who is a true multi talent in acting theater art 'till the musicianship. The setlist includes R&B, Soul and Bluesstandards. Apart from him, the band consists of bassist Wolfgang Graf, drummer Eberhard Wilhelm and Keyboardist/Sax Player Steve Hooks.
I rather would say, that they go for the qualm and rather quiet way of Blues, no aggressive beats or edges inbetween. This here is Bluesrock you listen to on a bar with a good glas of wine or beer in a nice atmosphere. No more nor less. And the dedication goes to Jimi Hendrix.

Michael Katon starts with such a bang off, that the club
shoots off elecectric sparkles....

Holy sh... this goes down like the power of a just started motorbike. The whiskey is already waiting for you. In this case it's probably rather a Williams Schnaps. which is taken up front and gets consumed. Katon's voice is rough and shows quite an individual vibe, which underlines the boogie perectly. There is no time to breath and no low level. The Boogie Man from Hell has started his turbo gear...

Inbetween the music we get several times told, where and how to get and purchase the music, when not here at the merch. There is for instance the official website, My Space or as potcast on i-tunes. But right now it's not the focus, because we got this man right in front of us, rocking the walls down in a way to boogie all over our heads on the Boogie Train and rip it hard in a rage of Rock'n'Roll, just to name a few of his records. The whole music - of course brewed in hell. Let's put it that way... I don't see any curves and edges either in his music, but rather a straight line. But it really rocks, - very hard and over 2 hours long.

Halleluja, there ain't no mercy, and in the the end we are more exhausted than the guys on tage. Attention also for drummer Johnny 'Bee' Badnajek, who looks like Tommy Lee in 10 years time, but is surely as good as him.
That's it so far, and I've got  only left to say, that we just have experienced a real great energetic Boogie evening. And like I use to say... That has been one of these hidden treasures, which still sparkle in a  hidden corner. But whoever is seeking for it, is gonna find it. And tonight we definately have found one diamond...
Great stuff !!!
