The Willie Dixon song 'Chicken Shack' is responsible for the namge, Stan Webb gave his band in 1965. In the beginning this was Al Sykes, Alan Morley and Andy Sylvester. But the line up changed very soon, and Dave Bidwell and Christine Perfect (who later became Christine McVee and was in Fleetwood Mac) came in. Producer Mike Vernon discovered the group and let them become to a piece of the british Blues history. From then there have been lots of line up changes over the years. Countless albums came out, some under the name Stan Webb's Chicken Shack, some only under the moniker Stan Webb, or the name Chicken Shack. With the tracks 'I Rather Go Blind' and 'Poor Boy' Stan Webb could even get into the Charts. Long talk short sense, the carriere of this artist and his constantly exchanging band was a frequent up and down, and for some time he was even off the drain. But as we say so over here. Dead one's live even longer....
And for quite a few years, the line up of the Chicken Shacks have stabilized with Gary Davis on guitar, Jim Rudge on bass. Only drummer Mick Jones has come into the club lately.

so far so good, what's up to the Chicken Shack biography in a speed style. Tonight we are here at Munich's Titanic City Clun and wanna convince ourselves, that Stan Webb still belongs to the ligue of great Blues musicians, though he never could reach the status of some others.

It’s Showtime at 9.15 p.m. and the band comes on stage and starts playing - without him. It takes another 5 minutes, before the boss appears out of the background of the club, gets on stage and takes over the front role. To my surprise the club is very well filled with an audiance consisting of some older generation, but also a quite a few young dudes, who have discovered their love for Blues. They all listen carefully to the bomastic sound , which gets underlined with the impressing and brilliant voice of Stan. He also shares the guitar lines with Gary Davis so perfectly, that a great harmony reflects. Mr. Webb counts 62 years of age, but he seems fit like Asterix sportsshoe, and  he seems to be in a very good mood !!!!

Take it easy, and the audiance shows a lot of affection. And what's up to me, I'm still amazed about this fabulous voice. The setlist is multicoloured menue of Webbs back catalogue. - And the very last track of the regular set is of course an extended version of 'I'd Rather Go Blind'. In the past, this song was performed by Christine Perfect(McVee). But personally I must admit, I prefer the harder version of the Slow Motion song. During this piece, Stan puts away his guitar and walks through the audiance while singing, flirting with a sexy Blonde.
The encore is of course 'Poor Boy', and last but not least the set is finished with 'Daughter Of The Hillside'. No more encore after that.
But we really can't complain, as the gig lasted for the usual 90 minutes, where we got brilliant Blues Rock ala' Stan Webb. One thing is for sure... this gig tonight I like a 100 times better, than the Gary Moore concert the night before. And that means something......
