With this band we got another example therefore, that nowadays bands don't just tour, when a new product is out, but also when there is enough request. And in this case the request has been pushed up an awful lot lately. Yes, it must be the shows, beeing so good, as the last studioalbum was released 2 years ago. However, each time Killswitch Engage come to Munich, they play in an even bigger venue. Last time it was the Backstage Halle, this time it's the Backstage Werk, almost sold out. Just to make sure, these guys have got another well known band into the boat for this tour. I'm talking about As I Lay Dying. - Thanks to all those young fans, who discovered Heavy metal for themselves with these bands. To be honest, I feel like a grandmum inbetween all these kiddies here, who are aged between 18 and 25 I presume. On the other hand it's a pleasure to watch their enthusiasm hailing their new idols who are not much older as they are themselves.

However, I come just by time, when  As I Lay Dying, start their set and I'm trying desperately to catch the vibe with my camera

Not that easy with these lightconditions here and the hyper activity of the group. And apart from that all this living rockets sailing across the photopit and the 2 songs - lenght for the photocall, it is everything else than easy. On the other hand I'm quite happy to escape that dangerzone which meanwhile has developed temperatures like the Sahara at lunchtime. Jesus wept including a hearing problem, not even mother Theresa could bear that, if she was still alive.
Also As I Lay Dying belong to these new Generation Metalcore Bands. Whereby I have to confess to do a bit hard to find a difference to other hardcore styles. However, this band founded themselves in 2001 in San Diego, California and have put out 5 albums so far. the unusual name they borrowed from english writer William Faulkner's same titled novelle

What surprises me, it the fact, that their songs have real good structure and even melody. Fans start to sing along with the band, and frontman Tim Lambesis is very pleased about that, says thank you and dedicates the next song to his beloved wife.
Yes, you've gotta give 'em - this special little something. And I can easily imagine, next time they are over here, they are playing a string of headliner shows.

Killswitch Engage have a huge bonus with their singer Howard Jones, who came in for original shouter Jesse Leach in 2002.

this guy owns a great aura and uses it to push up the fans to beyound the limits. Meanwhile the atmosphere has gonne up to new heat dimensions. For the first time I'm real happy to escape the pit after 2 songs. Everything else would have been a torture. Killswitch Engage are probably used to such conditions and still seem fresh and full of energy. Since their third album ‚The End Of Heartache’ and the following tours, the band belongs to the most successful and best known bands in the metalcore genre. They have even received a Grammy nomination in 2005.

Meanwhile now we are waiting for a new studioalbum, because the latest release from 2006 has just been re released as a special edition one year later. I assume it won't take that long anymore for a new CD. And then they will be back again.
I can't tell you much more about the concert tonight, because to be honest, I escape after the photoshooting and about 15 more minutes. No, not because they are rubbish, but if I had stayed any minute longer, I probably would have collapsed. Yeah maybe because I'm  not that young anymore or whatsoever. Because our kiddies here, have just about started  with their jungle rain dance of metalcore..
