I don't want to write too much about the Beatsteak anymore, as they had just been here in Munich not even one year ago - live on stage Last tim it was the Zenith venue where they appeared, and now it's out good old Muffathalle. Hmmmm..... everything got it's advantages and disadvantages. In the Zenith you can fit many more people in and you've got enough space for yourself and also in the photopit. Therefore you got the better sound and the more intimate atmosphere. But that one again doesn't make sense, when the living room is so crowded, that not even a fly finds a way to get through within this jungle.
You can loose the pleasure and enjoyment very easily. But the biggest fans of the group don't care about such things. Those fans haven't changed since last time either. and I even think, I've seen some familiar faces from the photopit . But.... yeay well, maybe it was a fata morgana. To repeat myself, it's a
fact, that the Beatsteaks are the best example that the success and fan
devotion is up to the newest trend. No, it's rather the marketing strategy
and a lot of luck. I mean, look at this. The average age of the fans is
aprox. 17 - 25 years young. That's a generation, who has flown with the
storchs, when the Sex Pistols or the Clash went out to conquer the world.
And what are the Beatsteaks doing? Literatually nothing else than the old
idols, just maybe put in a more modern dress. This band has worked
hard though for many years, and then they had all the luck in the world to
get the right connections to MTV. A movie soundtrack took care for the
rest of the success story. The Sahara seems like the northpol compared to this, at least 45 degrees hot pseudo-finnish sauna landscape. Halleluja, what a pleasure, and the boys up there on the plate, take every chance to heat the temperature even up. No piece of skind stays dry and some chicks get flying across the scenery in stage direction. Our local cleaning troups have got a lot of work to clean up the pit again. I for my part be pleased to have left this area already. Otherwise it would have been dangerous within this zone. To make it short, the
Beatsteaks do not play anything new or innovative, but something, which
has always been there for thepast 35 years or so. But they are doing it
very well with a lot of humor and some baseball hats and bad
attitude. I'd almost call them the german boyband of Punk Rock'n'Roll.
Because what's up to the fans the hystera goes almost as far as it does
when the Backstreet Boys or any other of this groups are coming. But on
the other hand, this guys here are a little bit to old to get
compared with all this boygroups. |
