IFlames...
are back again to Munich, but this time without sparkle and fireworks and glammer, which is probably due to our town authorities, who are still persisting on their strict orders. There is nothing you can do about it.
The flagship is fronted by two supportacts, who I have missed unfortunately, please forgive me. Opener is Gojira, followed by Sonic Syndicate. I don't understand, why half of the venue is closed, as in the other half about 3.500 fans squash themselves almost to death, despite a barriere in the middle. It would have been much more comfortable, if the whole room would be open. I have no clue about the reason.

Anyway, InFlames belong to these so called New Generation Metal Bands, who pull mainly very young fans. On the other hand the sweds are already going vor 18 years now and they have put out 9 albums and one DVD. With this tour the band promotes their ninth album 'A Sense Of Purpose'. So well, as I said before tonight we count not quite 4.000 souls and friends of Melodic Death Metal, or however you name this style. It's just about 4 or 5 years, that this lot shot to fame. It happened at a point, when all these youngsters discovered InFlames for themselves.
The band is fronted by singer Anders FriŽden, who takes care for the visual image style with his dreadlocks.

In former days a funny focus was also his stripy socks and shoes. But meanwhile he's exchanged those for normal jeans and sportsboots. Shame, because for my camera such things are true enjoyment, despite the fact, that lightconditions at a InFlames concert have always been and still are a disaster. Like today, where we photographers almost strangle ourselves to get som decent shot outta this here. But I guess, that's image care as well.

Apart from that, Anders is pretty cheerful and talks a lot inbetween the songs, entertaining the kids with amusing statements.
I personally find this band pretty good in their performance (well, you have to like this style) And yes, they pass the spirit of the classic Heavy Metal fan of the Eighties and Ninties. Because they still go for this so called true metal, who nowadays only fill venues with maybe 200 fans the most. And noone of those oldies relealizes, that time doesn't stand still, and bands like InFlames take over. The only one really who can put up with the new generation of bands are the cult bands who became  history with unforgetable songs. Apart from that - clear the line and acceptance for these young groups.

InFlames offer us a well mixed program with lots of edges, fast and loud, but sometimes also slow and heavy, but always very intensive. In each case, every songs puts up the question - what comes next.
I'm leaving the place before the encore, not because I have enough of this, but I want to escape the parking slots, before everybody else, that's all.
Apart from that, there is nothing else to complain about the gig of this swedish metalparty. And they are on their best way, to tighten their spot in the history of metal.
