This here is one of those young new rockbands, where I think spontainiously, they should be pushed forwards, because they are really good. But on the other hand it seems, that exspecially this kinda bands do hardest in the jungle of so many other acts and new releases. Just think about bands like the Urge or the Answer, who are brilliant live acts, but didn't catch up with the big success yet. Well, Jaded Sun are still very new on the front with just about 2 EP's entitled RAW from 2004 and 'Falling On The Fears' from 2005 and one full Cd named 'Gypsy Trip' released this year. By the way this one was recorded in Los Angeles. Jaded Sun were founded in 2003 in Dublin, Ireland and the line up is John Maher (Vocals), Sean Gosker (Guitar), Eorann Stafford (Guitar), Damien Kelly (Bass) Gavan Murray (Drums). They have been put in a melodic rock cathegory, but I'd rather name it groovy Rockmusic with a touch of Blues, nothing else. It's anway bullshit all these categorizing into certain draws. Unfortunately the amound of fans, who have found their way here tonight, ain't that impressing. Bet well, I would excuse it with the fact, that there is simply too much going on right now. And if everybody spends his money on all thoese big acts with ticketprices above 70 Euros, then there is nothing left for the smaller events. In adition to this, tomorrow it's monday, and maybe some people lost enthusiasm to go out, when a whole week of work lies ahead of them. Shame, as Jaded Sun prove here, that they know how to play and entertain. By the way, support comes from german rockers Dizzy Dogs from Cologne and they get along quite well with their mainstream line. But concerning Jaded Sun afterwards, it's mainly the impressing voice of frontman John Maher getting noticed first of all by everybody here. It is said, that when John
met the rest of the band first, he wore only the irish flag round his hips.
(wish I had seen this:-))))
Oh by the way, these
boys have nothing in common with their german collegues of Jaded Heart, and
they do their own thing despite the name similarity. Long Hair is out and
leather pants as well, they might have thought. And they are right. Despite
the lack of audiance the show is an explosive mixture Rock'n'Roll and a bit
bluesrock. Both guitarists Sean Gosker and Eorann Stafford share the leads,
and Damien Kelly does his part of the rhythm section going with the beats of
drummer Gavan Murray. But it is actually John Maher, who is the focus with
his powerful tenor and his movements But his announcements inbetween the
songs are spoken in such a heavy irish slang, that I bet, not even 2 people
in here actually understood what he said. |
