Okay, now we got them, the legitime heirs of AC/DC, who might take over, when the originals retire. But well, that's not gonna be case for a long time, so have Angus and Friends just proved with their new platinum album 'Black Ice' and a sold out world tour for 2009.
So Joel O’Keefe (Voc/Git), brother Ryan O’Keefe (Drums, David Roads (Git) and Justin Street (Bass) do well beeing called  a clon of the cultlegend, also from Australia. 2004 the debutalbum 'Ready To Rock' came followed by 'Runnin' Wild' last year. And now Airbourne really start off. They are not only here in Europe to support the Toten Hosen, but also show in several soloshows, that they don't wanna be seen as an AC/DC Coverband, but owning a quite a bit individuality. And my god, they really got it.....
Let's put it that way, The whole inferno stands and falls with frontman Joel O'Keefe, who works himself so much off from the very first moment, as if he wanted to climb up the Mount Everest in a high speed marathon.

What fascinates me, is the fact, when someone exhausts himself that much, but still plays clear and great leads on his 6 strings. And I ask myself, how is he gonna do it for christ sake. Indeed, this skinny guy moves around with such a speed, that I do have problems to freeze him into a clear pics within the first 3 songs. It becomes even more difficult because of too much light. As I say so: to less light is no good, but too much ain't good either, exspecially when it comes from behind...

To take it ahead..... Airbourne are no AC/DC Coverband. Because you won't find one single AC/DC song on their setlist. This band only follows the same musical path, a straight, bone hard classic Hard Rock'n'Roll. And even some of it sounds similar to the current Hardrock Band No.1 , so this lot here, like I mentioned before, show much individual style. But there is one more aspect concerning the AC/DC comparison. When you look at Joel O'Keefe, you think for a sec, Bon Scott has risen up from the dead ones The visuall Similarity is so huge,it is unbelievable. Halleluja this is almost spooky. And like I also said beefore, this Rock'n'Roll Animal does 99% of the show.

The rest of the bandmembers might be good musicians and also finish themselves off close to a heartattack. But in the end they end up as the shadow  of Bon Scotts reincarnation. And that one again doesn't give us any second left to breath. Airbourne don't have any ballads in their repertoire, but only hard rocking tunes, - one after the other. And at some point Joel appars in the back of the venue, just be close to the fans there as well....

The Show lasts just about 80 minutes. But including this overdimensional exhaustion it would be dearly a risk to continue and maybe get a collapse or some other break down. Even the audiance suffers happily under dehydration and absolute enthusiasm.
This here has been, - how shall I describe it..... - simply brilliant. And I do not like saying this really, but if there wasn't this cultstatus, the age and Angus himself, then AC/DC would have to undertake a huge effort to compete with this stage action.
Till next time - hop
efully as headliners only.... bet so.....
