Uihuihuihui...let's get it on with the happy cemetry party, dressed in black of course and in a Rock'n'Roll mood to cut off our arteries tonight at our Backstage Werk here in Munich. What have we got tonight? It's four bands, all feeling homely in the gothic style, yeah sort of.... And the whole event goes under the moniker entitled 'Hellhounds Fest'. There is ‚Chrisis Never Ends’ who are a  local Hardcore band from nearby, followed by Avi Inferi from Portugal who take care, that all Zombies here in the audiance rather drink another beer, before entering the main venue-room, thanks to their frontbird's twittering.
I walk in like many other's when the 69 Eyes climb on the coffin lid at our mausoleum at 8 p.m. starting their dark pasadoble in black, charming and with a hell of a lot fog.

I once again can draw some comparisons (fins again by the way) to appearances in the past. And it is clear, that Jyrki Pekka Emil Linnankivi, (short - Jyrki 69)
and his men in black offer us a great potential of Pret a Porte.
Unfortunately, you've gotta admit, that only about 300 friends of the Darkness have gathered here to this party. And they get surely into the right mood by Johnny Cash's tunes coming out the amps during the breaks and beforehand. Yep, you got it, and I presume, some of the local crew must be a huge fan of this country legend. But who cares. I think it's funny to give the crowd such a contrast. And last but not least, Johnny Cash has at least something in common with these people here, as he was always dressed in black as well :-)))) Most of the weeping willows here don't bother anyway.
But back to the 69 Eyes, who, believe it or not, are going now for almost 20 years. And they certainly don't seem mouldy or rotten. Everything up there reminds you on everything else then on a funeral supper.

To make it short and peinless. These finnish guys, don't make anything new or even innovative, but whatever they do up there, they do it very well. Their music is leaned a little bit on Sisters Of Mercy and the Cure, and singer Jyrki 69 seems almost like reincarnation of Joey Ramone. He just ain't that long and not that skinny like the, already passed away, Punk icon. Only what's up to the generell body movements, our Jyrki here, is a bit more energetic.
Another rarity, what's up to a photographers point of view, is the fact, that the drummer has got the most limelight here. Yeah well, whatever you call this visual sight here. Howeve,r behind the drumkit, there is certainly a volcano erupting, and... dressed in white for a change.

'Christian Death' & 'From Dusk 'Till Dawn'

'Perfect Skin'

'Devils'

On the setlist you find all eyeapples of the band's carriere. I'm talking about songs like ‚Brandon Lee’, ‚The Rocker’  or 'Perfect Skin', which get performed by this band with much energy and in a sort of Sleazerock style. If there wasn't this black aura and the very deep voice of the frontman, you could easily name 'em Glamrockers. Yeeessss, the sarcophag is dancing Rock'n'Roll. And after one encore (the 2nd one has been cut off) all living deads in this cathedral here are waiting for further stories from the Crypt, while Johnny Cash is doing a second prayer out ot the amps inbetween.

Aftershow sieht man endlich mal Jyrkis Gesicht...
Resultat: Test bestanden :-)))

'Lost Boys'

And what follows next, is beating the prayer of the 69 Eyes for miles what's up to the average funeral mood.

Our suicide feelings are freezing  within the oxygen waves. And the kryptkeeper invites us to a orgy for living deads. By the way, the kryptkeeper is named Johan Edlund, who is very pale, with his hat but bare chested. And his jeans are situated below the beltzone. Dun' know, whether you could call this sexy, but I rather leave this decision up to all these gothic brides in the audiance, who show the appreciation with even more enthusiasm. Well this is a matter of everybody's individual taste, as we say so. And of course you gotta show a certain style and image. And this one here is named - very last day's mythology. Yiippiieehh, what a joy, when Johan, the boss, and his mates let out their spring feelings here.

By the way, for Tiamat, this is the first european visit for six years. Don't ask me, why it took so long for them to come back. You gotta ask them by yourself.
But it's a fact, that mastermind Johan, in contrat to his style, rather prefers the greek sunshine in Thessaloniki and lives there currently. He is also supposed to be a satanist. But as he doesn't show any  horns on his head yet (yeah well, guess what's underneath his hat:-))) and h doesn't show any other signs up there. So in the end not even a chinese dessert mouse here is bothered by such a thing. So what ?! Most important is the fact, that the music suits to the generell vibe. And this is surely no pink perfumed clouds.
And Mr.Edlund own a huge aura with such a huge spheric vibe, that the rest of his diabolic collegues vanish in the background and in the dry ice fog.

’Amanthemes’, the current satanic chapter of Edlund and Co. has arrived already last year. That's why it's not the centerpoint here. The program is a well done mixture of the Tiamat witches brew, with hot spices like 'Cain', 'Sleeping Beauty' and 'Gaia'. My personal favorite song is 'Cold Seed' from the 1997 album 'A Deeper Kind of Slumber', and it is the last song of the official set.

'Vote For Love'

Over all Orpheus from the underworld leave a great impression here in Munich. And thanks to the loose atmosphere (not so much crowded, not too loud or redicolous retrictions like recently at the Dragonforce gig), we could enjoy these two acts  - 69 Eyes and Tiamat, very much indeed. And before we return to our homely coffins, Johnny Cash once again says good bye from the amps with a touch of nostalgia. And to be honest, at currenty -17 centograde, we would appreciate a Ring of Fire very much including a hot water bottle and some cashmire wool socks
