I've just questioned myself, how many year it has been, that Jackson Brown was in Munich playing live on stage. And if I'm not completely wrong, then this american first class musician played the Rudi-Seldmayer-Hall in 1986 last time. But that was a time, when I didn't even think about ob moving to Munich.
In generell, Mr.Browne was here in Germany about 5 years ago, but like I said before, - not in Munich. But now, last but not least, he has come back to a concert tour throughout Europe, including one stop over in our town here.
Meanwhile the german born artist is  60 years of age. At the age of 3 he movied to the United States with his parents, and he has stayed there since then. Browne started his carriere as a singer/songwriter  in 1972 with his selftitled debutalbum including the hitsingles 'Doctor My Eyes' and 'Rock Me On The Water'. Since then 17 CD/Lp's have been released, including 13 studioalbums, 2 Best of's... and 2 live recordings, and one DVD 'Going Home' in 1994. However, for everybody who is interested into more details of his biography, should check out

There is one more curious thing about this musician, who's name is not so familiar to many young music fans. But, when those get to hear the song 'The Load Out/Stay'. then they all do know this tune.
Well, Jackson Browne is an icon to all older fans, like me, and he is here tonight at the Circus krone in Munich. A venue which is used for different events in spring and summer time, but in winter time it is the residence of the Circus only. This event here is not sold out. And some people are trying to sell tickets for less the normal price outside the main entrance, many of them with bad luck. Inside I guess, there are 6 - 700 people, whereby mind me, the Arena is seated tonight.

No supportact, but there is not need for it as Jackson Browne is not a musician who needs a supporting cheerleader for pushing up the energy level for his appearance. He is rather the quiet and laid back kind of musician, - a true singer/songwriter with beautiful melodies full of harmony. This is more or less music for listening and not so much for rocking along...

Browne is a man going for understatement, coming on stage, followed by his band with ho big deal. His group consists of 2 black background singers, one guitarist, drummer, Bassist and keyboardplayer. They all show during the set, that they are brilliant musicians for themselves.

The setlist shows a mixed program of legendary well known songs and also tracks from the current new album 'Time The Conqueror', which was released last year. Browne himself plays the piano and guitar next to the frontvocals. And he offers us one or the other song in an acoustic version, like for instance - 'Lives In A Balance'. I gotta mention, that this track has never been a big hit for Jackson Browne, but many fans do like exscpecially this tune.
Before I forget, I have to mention, that this gig is split in two parts, whereby each of them lasts a little longer then one hour, with a 30  minutes break inbetween. The second half is much more lively, and it includes the absolute highlights - 'Running On Empty' (that one shot to fame within the movie Forrest Gump), and one song, which ain't shown on the setlist - 'the Load Out/Stay'. And at this point, nobody stays on his/her seat anymore, storming the front.

very posh & sophisticated for a change.

60 years of age and not looking one wink older than
25 years ago.

For everybody, who doesn't know: ‚Stay’ is not a Jackson Browne song, but has been written bei Maurice Williams, who had a no.1 hit with his band The Zodiacs (formerly the gladiators) in the american billboard charts. In fact they stayed in the charts for 18 years).
There is one more thing to mention, which is the fact, that Mr.Browne has not played this song yet on the whole tour. No clue why he does it in Munich. Maybe because the audiance shows so much enthusiasm. And at 'Stay' everybody sings along. It is the only time, I've spotted Jackson Browne smiling tonight.
After that one he says good bye with a modest thank you, that's it. But of course there is an encore. And that one includes 'Somebody's Baby'. A Track, which has never been released on one of his regular albums, but only on a movie soundtrack of the film: 'Last Times At Ridgemont High' from 1982. 15 years later the track found at least place on a Best of Record. Some tunes I do miss here, like 'Lawyers In Love' and 'For A Rocker', which should belong to a Jackson Browne show. But it's been probably a time schedule problem.
But no doubt, this evening has been simply brilliant, and the enthusiasm of the 35 - 65 year old concert visitors is endless. This here were two hours of great american Song History with many nostalgic moments on a high quality level. Let's wait and see, how long it takes, 'till Jackson Browne finds his way again to Germany, his original home country, - if ever again...
Cheers, this has been simply phantastic nothing else....
