this event

...and the last Amen hasn't been prayed yet, after AC/DC had played already one spectacular concert here in Munich at the Olympiahall. Halleluja,
aren't we Munich people spoiled, that we get the whole non plus ultra of Rock'n'Roll again??? And this in the XXL version at the Olympic stadium. And like the smaller hall (12.000) fans, also the stadium (70.000) was sold out fast then Speedy Gonzales runs the Iron Man, or better Angus rushes across the catwalk.
I have to confess, that I don't belong to this sort of music freaks, who goes and sees a band twice after each other in a short while. But as AC/DC is a real exeption in this business, causing an exeptional case, I will make an exeption too to check out the second biggest band in the world (after the Rolling Stones) for a second time, but only in the XXL version.
So what shall I say... if there is an open air festival in Munich now and then, you can be dead sure it's raining with hail and thunderstorm. Happened last time at the Genesis and Bon Jovi stadium gig last year. The only luck we got today, is the fact, that the rain has a little delay, starting around 10 p.m.
I've got to say thank you to the local promoter, who give me two choices, either a seated place underneath a roof, or down at the arena - front row. So the  only time I get in touch with water, is on my way home, when the rain has almost finished anyway.

Starting off at daylight is local heroess Claudia Cane, who is trying to bring in the right mood into the half filled stadium at around 6.45 p.m. (see curfew)
Unfortunately I can't comment a lot to this gig, as I 1) arrrive a little late and 2) I'm still pretty far away from stage. But watch the 2 filmed clips and make your own mind up. By the way, it ain't the first time that Miss Cane opens up for AC/DC. And you can think about it whatever you want, but it is quite a bit something, when you made it to open for AC/DC

For the second act, irish rockers The Answer' I got finally access to the arena front. But here as well, I don't wanna loose to many words about it this time, as I've done already an extensive review on them in my march 27th. review.
Just to mention it again, the fact, that this lot has got the chance to support AC/DC on the complete worldtour is great. A chance, they hopefully use for their advantage in the future. Because the music of the Answer is some sort of light in the jungle of nowadays new acts and music. The reaction of the audiance is different. Some AC/DC fans can't cope with this kinda Led Zeppelin meets Hendrix mixture and the strange movements of singer Cormac Neeson.

I for my part can only state, I prefer The Answer in a smaller club atmosphere, because their whole appearance comes so much better across. And I'm pretty sure, after they have finished their tour with AC/DC, it won't take too long for them to come back as a headliner again.... I think, I said that before.

"Intro - Rock'n'Roll Train"

After a short break, the Rock'n'Roll Train rolls in again in Munich via a beg screen simulation. But I have to say, that this bombastic intro came much more impressive across in the smaller Olymichall in march, as here in the huge stadium. Never mind, because once again the euphoric enthusiasm is endless and overwhelming. To get it straight, I' convinced, if Angus up there starts playing: Twinkle twinkle little star' it wouldn't change anything in the average hysteria for this aging but still very fit rockers.

"Hell Ain't A Bad Place"

and hold on.... Age doesn't mean, you are not fit. Mr.Young gives once again everything in every way of his fragile shape and seduces his guitar to a bombatic rendevouz including all AC/DC riffs, which are included in this set.
To be honest, the program is almost exactly the same, like last time6 weeks ago. There are only 2 more songs included in the setlist, and it seems like a de ja vu.

"Back In Black"

"Black Ice"

God has a name, and that oneis AC/DC, Without doubt... And even our heroes play the same opera 150 times all over again, they get celebrated, as if there is no tomorrow.....

"The Jack"

"Hells Bells"

Whole Lotta Rosi
...and at the big Screen also for the far away fans - Angus in all his beauty in full format....  :-)))))

The catwalk is longer than in the hall of course, and right at the moment when Angus runs across this walk towards the sound desk -  tower, the sky opens it's doors, and he and about 50.000 souls get christened  in the truest sense of the word. Lucky you, when you had a seat underneath the roof. Mind me, I have to say, the limelights in the pooring rain and in the middle heavenly Angus, that has got something to it....

Apart from all these many show effects and specials, which are caused mainly by singer Brian Johnson and Angus Young, I have once again  the impression, brother Malcolm needs a little to eat. You could really feel sorry for this poor little sod, if we didn't know it better.

Two hours of Heaven are almost finished, and the Rock'n'Roll Train is about to leave the Munich station again with lots of canon noise and fire.

"Highway To Hell" - "For Those About To Rock"

"We Salute You"

The Day After....

Leaving 70.000 happy and satisfied train travellers, who don't regret a single cent they had paid for their tickets. But I learned something in the end. Never stay 'till the very end of an event in this huge stadium, as the journey back home takes you half of an eternity. Well in this case I don't regret it really.
