If I didn't know it better, then I would honestly not believe, that this musician is already 76 years of age. Respect, our beloved Blueslegend truly kept himself in shape over all these years. How come? Maybe because of his still ongoing energy and the facts, that Mayall has put his old Bluesbreakers on ice, and has started to blow fresh air into this sails with much younger musicians. Up there is a man, who seems to burst of energy and he is in a very good mood. And exspecially the mood is somethings, which varies pretty often in Mayall's case. I cann tell you out of experience from quite a few interviews with the Bluesman in the past. Well, today he is, like I said before in a very very good mood. And there is even some hope, that he's gonna play his biggest hit 'Room to Move', which he doesn't always.
Howevr, John Mayall certainly belongs to the so called Blues legends, who has written history since 1962. And he has influenced many other musicians. This summer his 40th album will be out. And within an interview before the show, he mentions to play one or the other new tune....

Okidok, and here we go in our almost sold out Muffathall, let's talk aprox. 1.200 fans, mostly elderly generation. Only now and then I see a young face somewhere in the middle, watching out curiously by seeing and hearing the mastro of the Blues for the very first time.
Starting of at strike 8.30 p.m.  without a supportband, you feel immidiately the new vibe and sparkle, which multiples straight away thanks to the new musicians and transfers to the audiance.
To introduce this new band briefly. There is guitarist Rocky Athas, a well known name in the Texas bluesscene. At the age of 23 he was already named as one of the 10 best guitarists of Texas. Bassist Greg Rzab has toured with likes as Jimmy Page and Buddy Guy in the past, and he's the baby in th group here. Drummer Jay Davenport comes out of the Chicago Jazz- and Bluesscene and names his biggest influences musicians as Billy Copham and Steve Gadd. And last but not least keyboardist Tom Canning, who had moved from his hometown NY to L.A. in the past, and has also worked with countless wellknown other artists.

And there is one more guy, who actually doesn't really belong to Mayall's new band. But this one is Ian Mayall, the nephew of John, and he is honestly a genius on saophone.
The setlist is a well mixed dish made from Mayall classic tunes, some other famous tracks and new songs, nicely spiced by some excellent solos of Harp, keyboard and guitar. And yes tonight we do get a 10 minutes version of 'Room To Move', which includes a brilliant bass solo.

"Sum Of Something"
feat. Ian Mayall am Saxophon

No, there ain't any complains here.Mayall's performance is par exellence'. 2 Hours of great entertainment pass by much too fast. And to repeat myself again and all over again over the years: Remember: never mind who is playing and what he's playing. A Concert is always great, if you don't watch the time and your feet don't hurt. And in the end at the encore you wish one more song again and again and again....
It's this feeling of absolute satisfaction what's up to the individual longings, accompaning you for a long time... That's it and nothing else.....
And to be honest with you out there.... when do I stay and watch a whole gig from the first - 'till the very last second...`?!!! Not very often, do I?!!
