To take it ahead straight forward.... Dan Reed was much too long away from the Rock'n'Roll front to come back and shoot straight to the moon again. And only some of us remember the glory days, when Dan and his band Dan Reed Network rose up like Phoenix from the ashes with his Funkrock Sound and conquered the world by storm. Songs like 'Ritual' or 'Rainbow Child' went up into the charts. And Dan Reed himself was known as one of the most attractive men in Showbiz, no kiddin'.
It could have been so
wonderful at that time. But it wasn't. And one of the reasons, believe
it or not, wa shis new hairstyle. From one day to the other it had
changed dramatically. And it wasn't only the fans, complaining about it,
but also the label and management. With this move, Dan wanted to show,
that not the look should be important, but the music only for
success. And it was his devotion to the Dalei Lama what made him
stepping back from musicbiz as well. So after 3 more or less successful
records, Dan Reed concentrated more on Buddhism, moved to india and
later to Israel and collected tons of experiences. Over the last years
he was also busy in the moviebusiness.
There have been quite a
few ads and announcements about this gig here in Munich, but
unfortunately it didn't really work out. The day is sunny, beautiful and
hot. And probably most people preferred the beergarden to a dark concert
location. In the end there are about 40 people, who found their way into
the ampere club. People who are freaks and all remember Dan Reed Network
from back then.
And it's those, I
caught in my clips. If you listen to it, you will know, though it's
performed as an acoustic one man show. Inbetween Dan entertains us with
witty anekdotes. It is indeed a rather intimate event, but it is a
wonderful one... it's unexited and full of harmony. I for my part wish
deeply, that this artist catches up again in the international musicbiz.
He deserves it so much.... so or so.... |
