The ‚Little ‚Ol Band From Texas’ ist back again in Germany after a seven year's break. And this time it's not the Olympiahall, but only the smaller Zenith venue, where the threesome are on. Mind me, this one is filled 'till the very last spot, which means as many as 6.000 heads. At least I get some true new perspectives of parking, which turns out to be a luxury parkingslot in the fields somewhere in the Nowhere including a 10 minutes walk back to the audiance. But it's my own fault, as I'm late as usual...
The supportband are two neat toyboys from our Rockantenne Radiostation, who try with a hell of an energetic effort to push everybody's mood in here with their turntables. . Thanks to a local promoters time exchange in the schedule, I do miss most of this Tuff Stuff'Roll.....

There is not much to say about ZZ Top, only maybe - respect: which other band managed yet to stay together in the same line up for the past 40 years. And there was only one gig, where drummer Frank Beard was missing.

This incident happened on the last tour in 2002, when the drummer had to undergo emergend surgery of his apendix. But apart from this one occassion, there hasn't been any other gig within 4 decades, where there weren't exactly these 3 guys up there on stage.

Well, we alld don't get younger, do we, whereby some of us grow fast old than others. In ZZ Top's case it's the faster version, and the Texas magic has gonne lost somewhere inbetween Houston and Dallas on a lonely oiltower. This ain't so much reffered to the visual aspect, because their sunglasses and beards do probably better hide every wrinkle than any lifting. It's their brand anyway. No, it's rather the average aura, which has lost it's flair and charism. To make it short, the texas boys do play their program without any motivation, and I'm tempted not only once for heavily yawning.

Okay, there is these inbetweenies on stage, like the guitar signing with the fanclub leader, who's name is Frank. Or when Billy Gibbons almost spilled a whole bottle of Jack Daniels across the frontrows in the audiance. Thanks to one of the security guardianangels it doesn't quite happen and nobody gets hurt. Mr. Gibbons, who's shape gets thinner and thinner over the years, tries his intellectual german skills, which turn out to into single words in a weird order... But the audiance likes it, and there is some movement in the end. Apart from that, I once again wanna mention the real band sound conditions in here. Usually I don't mention them anymore in this venue, because they are standard here. But today the acoustic circumstances are even worse than bad. And it doesn't help to change my position a few times.... It sounds the same, whereever I stay.

Last but not least, I wanna say one more thing. If you mind the bad acoustic, the fact, that there has not been a real supportact, and the lenght of ZZ Tops set is only about 80 minutes, then the ticket price of 60 Euros is just unfair.
Anyway, there you see, also living legend ain't perfect. And if the process of growing to fast old gets even worse, then  this lot should really think about to retire, so they don't destroy their own legend one day... -
Or has this here been only a real real bad day ?????!!!!!!!
