and just a few days later another music legend after the Eagles here in Munich. A little tricky, because this artist and also the other serve the same fan audiance. And the ticket prices are set pretty high, so not everybody can afford both shows in such a short time distance. The Eagles were absolutely sold out 2 days ago same venue. But tonight it's only about 4.500 fans who have made their way to the Olympiahalle again. And this is not due to a lack of popularity, which is definately not the case. But as I said before, not everybody wants to spend 100 Euros something like that  within this short while. But there is also another problem, as this concert here is also meant to be a seated  event like the one with the Eagles - seated arena I mean. But the promoter made the bill without Neil Young who said in the afternoon, that he was only going to play here, when the seats are beeing removed. The trouble is, that there are several price catgegories. And the frontrows are usually more expensive as other's behind. So those who had bought one of these expensive tickets got a bad surprice, when they discovered, that there were no seats, and the front has been already filled with hundredts of people. There are some announcements inside the venue through the speakers with apologizes to calm down angry concert visitors. And even Mr.Neil himself gives those people back 10 Euros and one t-shirt. This move is accepted only half way. And there are still many who want back their money. Hmmmm.... maybe there should have been some talk between management and promoter before... Who knows....?

Fotopässe gabs leider gar keine - wir musten uns mit der Tatsache begnügen, rein und wieder raus aus dem Graben  begleitet zu werden.

German rocker Wolfgang Michels, a multi musician, singer, guitarist, composer, lyricist and producer, who is well known to german rock fans.

Also Michels doesn't own a real status of fame and commercial success, so he has certainly contributed to the german rock and pop history. He belongs to the rare species of musicians who can compete with the international scene.
It's Neil Young's gift, that he got this supportslot. Both are good friends for many years, sharing musical interests as well as hotelbars and a good beer. Unfortunately I can only check out the first 3 songs, while I'm taking pictures in the photopit. After that we get accompanied back out in the V.I.P. areia by a friendly security, to sta there 'till the main act goes on.
But however.... these 3 songs I really do like Maybe because the music and the lyrics have a slight excentric touch, which gets you to listen carefully. And I do really enjoy the song 'Bei Mondschein' (at moonlight - in english) But apart from that, I can't tell you much more because of the given circumstance. I can only advise you to have a listen to Wolfgang Michels music.

Shortly after
Neil Young is weeping the stage floor like mad derwish and serves us an almost heavy metal version of his hitsingle 'Hey Hey My My' (Out of the Black).

When you're so close like we photographers are during the first 3 songs, then you get the impression, this good man is sort in a trance condition. The eyes are closed, but he is always moving strangly around. And his little hair left, dances it's own Rock'n'Roll.
But apart from that not much has changed. Our old hippie and Woodstock veteran appears like usual with his sleazy woodpecker shirt and give a damn about conventions.
Back to the music and the setlist contains once again some real diamonds of his back cataloge.

At some songs Mr.Young plays an antique organ, and then again a piano, just to return to the front with his guitar to the vocal mike. Due to his overdimensional stage presence, everything else disappears and becomes somehow meaningless. When Young introduces his backing band, there is only one name drawing immidiately our attention. And that's the one of Pegi Young, who everybody though, it was his daughter. But it's not. The pretty blonde girl is his wife.Lucky Bastard, as every english man would say so. But well, beeing famous and rich gives you some advantages as a man. But if it's really love - good for him. Mrs Young does not only handly the background vocals, but also plays piano and xyophone. The rest of the band consists of Ben Keith (git), Rick Rosas (Bass), Chad Cromwell (drums) and Anthony Crawford (git)

To mention some special songs on the setlist, I wanna name 'Down By The River' which is stretched out to a lenght of 21 minutes by the band. But there ain't a single boring second. That's what I would call - art.

Some of us miss hits like 'Heart Of Gold' and 'Like A Hurrican'. Therefore we get a very energetic version of 'Rockin' In A Free World'.

The encore and also in a long version is - 'A Day In The Life' - the Beatles classic tune. And the grand final is very impressing, as Neil Young destroys his guitar (see clip), like Pete Townshend did within the Who to his best times. Jesus wept, this poor guitar is certainly gone. Then last but not least a single knock on the xylophon and off he goes...
Over all, here we got 2 hours of pure energy with high nostalgic level. Neil Yound, who's age of 64 you can only see visualla, but surely not physically or even mentally. All we got here has been a solid performance of a Rock legend, pleasing everybody here - no more no less.
