These, our
Berlin Cowboys have been featured several times on this website. So if
you still want any information about this band, then please go to there
official website, given below.
Boss Hoss have been to Munich for several times now. Here at the
Tollwood summerfestival, it's the second time. And I presume, 5.000
people in the audiance speak for themselves. It means - sold
out.and underlines the fact, that the glory Seven are still up to date
here in Germany, getting the bavarian Lasso Cowboys away from the homely
fireplace. Yeehaw is the slogan once again in the right atmosphere of
our overdimensional Tipi. Boss Hoss got their new album in thier
saddlebags, which is entitled: 'Do Or Die'. Yes Ma'em... we are here in
the deepest wild west of Bavaria. And therefore I stoppoed counting
after the 25th cowboy hat, boots and white undershirts in the audiance.
Everybody keeps cool and Billy The Kid says hello tripling the amount of
beer. Mind me, the beer has more to do with the temperature hin here,
which easily competes with Death Valles in CA/Nevada USA. Howdy, or
should I rather say cheers....
Although BossHoss are
following the same strategy since they started out, their stage
choreography is always a little different, every time they play
live. I personally saw 'em around 6 times in the past. Tonight the band
start off with no barstools in the beginning...Those one's go into
position at the second strike, fresh from the horse stall.
I'm always surprised all
over again by the bride texas slang of both singers, who apparently took
some lessons with Buffalo Bill personally, to get it so well done. Only
the chewing tobacco is missing and the bottle of Jack Daniels up there
on stage. I guess, then the illusion would be a 100% perfect.
Broke Back Mountain says hello.... well not quite, because in our case,
the Cowboys are real men, if you know what I mean by that... at least I
think so... The ladies in the audiance know how to appreciate it, and
the front row consists of 99% female crowd, dressed up in - of course -
white muscelshirts, showing their best shape... hoping for some
attention from up there, at least what's up to a charming look.
The focus of all interest is of course Boss a.k.a. Alec Völkel, who
trys his best, who delivers a boiling hot show in the truest sense of
the word. Though I presume, he rather shows his bare breast because of
the 100 degrees under the limelight and not because of his voluminous
skin paintings. The sexy hip swing does the rest. And the ladies are
grateful, because as we say so... the eye wants something to eat as
well.
So well, and I ask myself, why Hoss a.k.a. Sasha Volmer and the rest of
the Dalton ga... eh sorry, the glory Seven don't follow Boss.. Would be
nice for a change, wouldn't it... but no problem, don't worry. We luv
you anyway... Oh wrong, drrummer Frank Doe a.k.a. Ansgar Freyborg strips
half naked as well. But h doesn't stand in the focus like our frontman
Wild West Casanova Boss...
The cooking time has to
end at 10 p.m. - I told you already in some other Tollwood reviews.
That's why we can stand the heat just about that time... The music does
the rest. Most of it comes from the new longplayer 'Do Or Die'.
The rest consists of older well known tunes and hits. The highlights
come within the first encore (see setlist). Apart from that there's
pretty much justice up there, as ever Cowboy gets his solo and the
chance to conquere the catwalk and express themselves to a certain
extend. The whole action ends within a battle on the floor, wiping it
clean and still playing the washboard and the big bass.
It’s wild it’s crazy, it’s BossHoss
and the whole magic is as romantic as an indian raindance in the middle
of Chicago. The goal is individuality, and
that's it, what makes this band so unique. The only thing Boss Hoss have
to be carefull about, is the risk, not becoming a parody of themselves.
Apart from that, there's nothing to complain and criticice about
tonight's appearanc and the energetic bullride on the Southfork..... -
no Tollwood Ranch here in Munich in the wild south of Germany.... Howdy,
and see you soon again....
