Tesla was born on july 10 1856 in Smiljan, Croatia, which at that time, belonged to Austria. And he died jan. 7 1943 in New York,USA. He was an Electro engineer and inventor. And his most important invention was - how to use the alternating current in it's best way.
Our Tesla here were born in 1984, and their invention were 7 albums with pure Rock'n'Roll so far, all in the so called Hairmetal style. These american guys took and dedicated their name to the first named Nikolei Tesla. Because without him, the electric guitar wouldn't exist.
And once again, I'm pretty sure, we ain't that many people here at the Metropolis tonight, who have experienced this band live in the Eighties, where they had their most successful era. Maybe some of you out there remember their supportslot for the Scorpions in Europe.

Anyway, the success of the Eighties took it's toll and it took care for a rather quiet time  between 1994 and 2001. Whatever the kick was, to give it another go, is up in the air. But as we say so... if nothing else works out or is happening, why not trying a reunion. There is not much to be lost, so what? Well, since the year 2007 Tesla are back to Germany as well and try via many festival appearances to refresh their reputation. This goal ends tonight here in Munich with a clubshow and in front of aprox. 500 musiclovers, some of them curious, what to expect.

Support comes from  Heaven’s Basement from Great Britain.

And this band is: Richie, Johnny, Sid, Rob and Chris, who have gathered around one year ago in England going for a dirty sleazemetal sound. Mind me, these boys actually came out from another band named Roadstar, who had put out 2 albums, but then split again.
Meanwhile these youngsters have put out one EP, and they tour their butts off, if you follow the tour page on the website.
I must admit, I do like, what I see and hear. Within this performance there is a lot of power and movement,,,infecting the audiance immidiately to jump along. Be careful, there's a burning risk, and if Heaven's Basement are moving one and trying to get even more selfconfidence and experience, then this could be the next hardrocking hope after Airborne last year.

First thought about Tesla... the tooth of time has taken it's toll, what's up to the visual aspect (exept one guy,who is the new one). But well
we all don't get younger, do we.? Adn we are not fifty yet. Das Rock'n'Roll Life and it's side effects can be checked in their faces.

Well, this is not the point here right now. But some of us are very prejucded and expect a brilliant performance anyway... But that's not quite the case.
But first of all: Tesla are still  Jeff Keith (voc), Frank Hannon (Git), Brian Wheat (Bass), Troy Luccketta (drums) and the new guy since 2006 - Dave Rude also on guitar. And these five guys start off with 'Forever More' followed by 'I Wanna Live'.... (see setlist). First highlight of course is ‚Heaven’s Trail’ and ‚Paradise’. And not to forget 'Signs' and 'Comin' Atcha Live'. Unfortunately I do miss some songs like 'Edison's Medicine' and 'Gettin' Better'. But that's not the point, which gets me a bit bored. It's most of all singer Jeff Keith, who, despite of his unique voice, has an aura like a giant turtle on the Galapagos islands, just weaking up from it's wintersleep. No seriously, but there is no sparkle, not connection to the audiance... and I almost get the impression, good ol' Jeff is playing seek and hide up there by keeping most of the time in the background of the stage. I mean... why is a singer named frontman ehh?!!

Apart from that, Tesla scrol down their program with somehow no enthusiasm. It almost seems, as if the band has a bad day or something like this. No, don't get me wrong... It's not bad, what and how they are playing their american hardrock, including some well known melodies. But I definately miss something here. This special little Something, which gets you rockin' and rollin'. For instance, not  to compare with the recent show of Y&T - same place here, which got the venue almost falling apart into pieces. At this Tesla show here, not even a shingle on the roof is moving. And yes, tonight I do watch the time and glimpse towards the bar, if there maybe is a not occupied stool to rest my hurting feet.

Rock Me To The Top’ – (not really?) - the encore ends the set in Munich. On the whole, the audiance did like, what they got served here, and well, that's most important, ain't it? Maybe it's just me, beeing so fussy and sensitive. But somehow I did miss the sparkle here and my own enthusiasm.
However, the band said already, they are gonna be backs soon. So you can go out and convince yourself (again) about their skills and talents.
