Almost unbelievable, that this band, I'm talking about Dog Eat Dog of course, are going for 15 years now. Not so much because of their modern musical style, but rather what's up to their youthful looks. At least from a certain distance, these boys still seem like in the middle of their twenties. But I presume, they have passed this age a while ago. Therfore the audiance tonight is pretty young. And yes. Dog Eat Dog were here before Limp Bizkit or Linkin Park, and the band is handled in the genre as the pioneers of this cross over style. Cross Over in the sense of Heavy Metal meets Rap and other fusion rhythm. Unfortunately they never hit it really big worldwide. And the last album has been released 3 years ago.
Hoever, the Backstage area is still dominated by the Free & Easy weeks, where there is no entrance fee neccessary at all events happening at the 4 venues. But due to the late showtimes there is an increase of liquid sales expected. And at the current indoors and outdoors temperatues this goes down well, exspecially when the place, like this here, is so incredibly packed, that people even stand outside the doors, trying to get a glimpse towards the stage, when the headliner is on.

Before that, it's not that bad, when once again 2 supportacts try to heat up the crowd, starting like usual at 8.30 p.m.
Number 1 is from Frankfurt, Germany and names themselves 'At The Fairwell Party'

This boys obviously belong to the new generation of rockbands. I bet, neither singer Dan, nor guitarist Benny, guitarist Fabi, bassist Frank or drummer Buddy have reached 25 years old yet. Never mind though. It's a fact, that this lot is going now since 2006, and they have put out a debut EP and 2 singles. A full album has yet to come along. Apart from that, I've been told, that the group is handled as a hot newcomer tipp. And I truly can understand what they mean by that. They play their material with so much enthusiasm and pleasure to play, asking the crowd several times to move more up front, so the set gets the right spice, as we say so. The boys are playing their Rock'n'Roll with english lyrics to put on a rather international touch.
Over all, not bad at all, although their music ain't anything innovative or even new. But 'At The Fairwell Party' take every effort to convince the audiance about their performance. They can manage partly. So let's wait and drink tea. I mean, next to a huge talent, you still need to be very active and busy, and need a little luck as well for further success.

Number 2 are Jenson from Munich...

And these guys ain't going much longer than the opener, having founded their band in 2005. But compared to the first act, they have already one full album named 'Großstadtschmutz' out (the title means in english 'Big City Dirt') So as you can see, Jenson go for the german language, and they bring even a little bit more selfconfidence onto their set. Meanhwile the venue has filled much more with people. Maybe they also got some kind of home advantage. I'm not quite sure. Jenson are: Florian Pfister on vocals/git, then guitarist Nils Klippe from Munich, bassist Stefan Blöckinger and drummr Manuel Weiss. And these boys go for a straight german rock with some kind of humour.

Florian does definately know how to entertain the audiance with witty statements inbetween the songs, and he confesses, that he's a huge Beatsteaks fan. Last time his idols were in Munich and he was there to check them out, he was really impressed by a stage dive of one bandmember from about 20 feet height. And now he wants to copy this jump in here from the gallery. So let's go for it, and our kamikaze pilot Flo jumps down not quite from such a height, but still high enough, onto the audiance, who carry him back to the stage. (you can watch this jump in the second clip below.)

No we can't complain. I must admit, I do like Jensons show, musically but also what's up to the entertainment aspect. And once again,
I realize, that checking out a rather new band, who I haven't seen bevore live on stage, can't be that wrong.

Not so Dog Eat Dog, who I've seen several times before in the past live on stage.

At this point now, the inside of this venue here develops into a fatal madhouse, where there is almost no escape anymore. (thanks to the boss, getting me outta there and up to the gallery. Otherwise there wouldn't be any pics shown at this page). Halleluja, what's happening now is beyond of description. The battle of Waterloo is Swanlake complared to the battering each other down - of all these Die Hard Dog Eat Dog fans. Every time I see such an action, I wonder, that there are no more injuries. It's bad, I mean - really bad.
By the way Dog Eat Dog don't go for mineralwater or beer bottles. It needs these typical huge bavarian beer glases, with at least 2 pints of lager in it to kill their individual thurst.

The focus is certainly the sax player, who is rather unusual for these hardrocking harmonies.

No, there ain't any doubt,- not having another new album in the luggage, is certainly no disadvantage. This is party pure, showing no mercy on anybody. And everybody is participating in this madness down there in the audiance. Enthusiasm gets beyond controll.
The setlist is offering everything what the fan's heart requests. And this fanatism is infecting the rest, even the few people on the gallery.
It's amazing, that even girls take the challenge of a decent stage dive as shown below. One of the beauties obviously has got a crush on the bass player Dave Neabore (I know this guy from somewhere before in the past) and hangs on to him like almost drowned. To get it right, the security has quite a job to do tonight.....

To come to an end, although I myself probably couldn't listen to a whole Dog Eat Dog CD from the beginning to the very end, I have honestly to say, this here has just been brilliant. That's it....
