I put it that
way.... 3,4 or even 5 concerts in one week is a normal situation for me.
In addition to that Press dates, photocalls on filmsets and red carpets...
- 2 Events on one evening, where I have to fly from one to the other
like Hermes I'm used to as well. But 2 concerts one one night in one and
the same building, just different venues doesn't happen too often. But
of course it's pretty comfi, as the distance is a small one. Although
this fact, I wouldn't have thought that shooting 5 bands aways in
exchange of the location inbetween, can be so exhausting. For a short explanation for non Munich residents, - The Backstage aera included 3 venues. There is the Werk fitting in aprox. 1.200 people, the Halle with 600 and the Club with about 250 units. Whereby the halle and the club are situated in 2 containers connected to each other, just opposite the Werk building. Well and when there are two photocalls requested by various print media, then of course I take the chance to do both - as we say so: the Rubel must roll on. One one hand there are the good old Prog-Melodic Rocker Magnum, who are going now for more than 3 decades (which you can also see :-))) and on the other hand we got The Sorrow, a young Metalband from Austria, one of the very few, who have managed to establish themselves across the border. Whereby I've seen Magnum at least 20 times in the past, but The Sorrow I only spotted twice supporting other bands so far. So let's go and take 'em all, including all supportacts. Though the reviews will be a little shorter than usually, as I only can see every act for about 20 minutes and then run off again to do the next one next door and back again. Starting at the Club with Munich's local Metalband Silent Decay. I've seen this lot in the
past as well, I have to say. About 150 fans have gathered here.
There is an audiance of
about 300 old and young people. Wauw, after Silent Decay in the Club,
Dark Sky now seem like a mild summer wind. Good old Melodic Rock is the
slogan and Franks antique hairstyle hasn't changed either since last
time at the Rock Over Munich festival past january. Therefore we
got guitarist Steffen, who seems visually to compete with Watti from the
Exploited what's up to the look, yeah well almost :-) But somehow his
look doesn't really fit to this softy Rock'n'Roll of Dark Sky. No don't
get me wrong, that's not a bad thing with this softrock, as every
musical style has it's rights to be there in this world. But, when you
change over from Silent Decay within one minute to Dark Sky, it is
quite bash into my ears.
Halleluja, up there right
now, Arni Schwarzeneggers nephew is pushing himself into higher spheres. Mehr

But it's always been like that, so nothing new, is it?! But mind me, at the little conversation before the show mourning about a weak voice and average condition... this is no surprise -- I would also be dead ill, if I let my car aircondition blow around my head every day for 90 minutes. But Bobby Boy has always been very concerned about his look. And he's gotta take quite of an effort to present himself in the most positive way, by beeing rather small in his bodysize. What's up to his voice he hasn't suffered at all over the years. But sometimes it seems - at least - to me, as if there has been included some samples in addition to the singer's voice. Though not many people do realize anything like it. However, there is a new album named ‚Into The Valley Of The Moonking’, which wants to be promoted live. It's voluminous and bombastic like the usual style. So the band couldn't make anything wrong. Mixed well with old classic tunes, this show is certainly a well done one for nostalgics, old rockers and lover of Melodic Rock. The
Line up, apart from Catley - like always: Mark Stanway - Keyboard,
Al Barrow on Bass, Tony Clarkin – guitar, and my good old buddy Harry James
(yep, the guy from Thunder) you can rather guess behind his huge drumkit
then spotting him... http://www.magnumonline.co.uk/
Anyway,
The Sorrow can be proud of themselves, as they have just been awarded
with the austrian Amadeus Award in the Hard & heavy cathegory.
Congratulation for that. So what else to say....
The Sorrow really wipe off the crowd, consisting of about 250 kiddies in
such a way, that I make sure to stand on the edge in a corner, not to
get knocked down. From there I'm trying hard to get some snapshots. It's
a wild party with an overwhelming mood. The moshpit is ready for
Olympia. The place is boiling at least 3times as hot as next door with
Magnum. Who knows why... Maybe because here are mostly youngsters, who
still have more energy in themselves and their bodies as the oldies on
the other side. http://www.thesorrow.net |
